Today is bonus day at work. We got our biggest one in my 22 years with the company. Can't imagine this is a very productive day, company-wide.

It was enough to pay off a car, two credit cards, a vacation house at the beach, pay my taxes and car insurance, and put some aside for a reno project. Good times, good times.

Fkn beauty. Bonus day for me too. Most I've ever gotten, highest my bank account balance has ever been. And the best part is this is the first time I haven't had any of it already spent... putting it directly in the next-house-down-payment fund

Love it when there are good vibes in here. I’ll get my bonus (first in 16 years) next month. Also got a 2% raise for 3 months of work. I’ll take it

Keep in mind that just you being concerned about this is showing more loyalty than they ever would to you if your position was eliminated.
Oh 100%. I care more about the relationships I've built with the people I manage. Company cares zero about me lol.

Someone said something that's stuck with me. The company itself won't remember your name, and the people you work with will stop speaking of you in less than 3 months time after you leave. Really try to keep myself grounded that way.

My laptop hasn't been opened since like my 2nd day. It sits folded and only hooked up to serve my two monitors and the hub where everything is plugged in.
There are a couple people in the office that will just leave their laptop open working on it, with two perfectly functional monitors and a docking station left untouched. I don't get it

I wish bonus checks were not treated like a traditional paycheck. Taxes aside, the 17% deduction of my 401k was a sizeable chunk of the end result. It just means that my last few paychecks of 2024 will not have the 401k contributions, but I was hoping to invest more of that money now.

I mean they are and they aren't, right? They are taxed, but not at the same rate as income.(I thought it was a flat rate) What do I know, I still can't believe a cash gift isn't taxable.

I thought my bonus was taxed as ordinary income...

I mean at tax return time box 1 and box 2 are what they are, inclusive of bonus payments and withholdings, and we reconcile on that

I can't believe there's a gift tax at all. If post-tax dollars are passed on, why should the feds get to double dip?

Maybe they don't want passersby to see what they are looking at.

Mrs mac hitting that bonus next week. We'll be credit card debt free after that or shortly thereafter (I've been moving balances around to stay at 0%). Pretty huge accomplishment IMO. I can now attack other debts and drastically increase the brokerage contributions.

Trying to give notice first thing tomorrow morning. Anxiety is real, even though I know it's going to be fine.

It is survive and advance season in the basketball world. I've survived and advanced to the 2nd round of interviews (really, the 1st round was like a 1 vs a 16 given that I knew my interviewer from having worked with them in the past). So, got a pair of them this week with one happening right in the middle of all the Tournament action on Thursday.

All done. Went fine, found out my bosses boss quit on Friday so things were already hectic, and about to get worse work wise.

It took you delivering your own notice to find out your boss also quit? That's fantastic.

No my bosses boss, resigned before she was ultimately pushed out. Our business unit has been doing terrible financially, and she's made just absolute horrendous bets.
