"company time"...lol. It's all company time anymore. Which means they expect me to answer emails at 8pm and I can run personal errands whenever I want. That's the balance and don't let anyone convince you otherwise.

Last month my daughter texted me from school and asked me to come pick her up because she had to poop.

OK, first you're not supposed to text at school and second, no.

You’re either doing it wrong or you work for a bunch of dadholes.

Hourly with time and a half overtime. Have to sign a statement every quarter that I won’t even look at my work phone unless I’m clocked in.

Need it to log into the system. I’m a fan. Absolutely nothing work related goes to my personal phone.

5-10 minutes!? When you're shitting in a public restroom, you get in and out. You don't sit there and play candy crush for 10 minutes.
A sub-5 minute sh*t is generally not what guys do.
I'm usually two minutes and done. I also eat a lot of fiber.

I'm usually like 2 minutes of actual business, 10 minutes of phone browsing.

I can hear my wife in the other room pleading with my cat to please stop walking on her laptop and rubbing up against her monitors while she works.

My wife's work just did a 180 and said that if you don't want to come back in to the office, you can stay WFH permanently. They're renovating their building to be a hoteling area for the people who do want to come back to the office, but my wife is **** ecstatic right now, as she should be.

I have a carpenter from a general contractor on site right now to fix some lingering issues from a recent project. He keeps trying to explain to me how these products work and that it must be user error.

Didn't pay any attention to what I was telling him until I informed him that I'm a Certified Master Locksmith. Amazing how quickly tunes change. Now he is ordering parts.

We started blocking access to our Citrix/O365 sites internationally this morning. Judging by the number of tickets we're seeing come in, somebody must have forgotten that we have many international employees.

In an effort to make return to office more appealing, HR sent out a notice today that they installed MERV13 filters. I don't think they fully understand why we don't want to return to the office. It's not the risk of Covid.

What’s the mask while pooping policy?
Normally I pitch it after I wipe with it

Almost a week now of no email or teams access thanks to the may windows security patch. I call the help desk 2x a day for updates and nothing. So, I've been working off my phone. It's fun.

As a part of the coming back to the office policies at work, they implemented flexible work arrangements for jobs that can potentially be done from home.

Essentially we're allowed up to 2 days a week working from home provided that we have a designated work space, can provide our own technology or safely transport the technology from work to home (I have a laptop, so that's pretty easy), and we receive permission from our supervisor in writing for the days and provide the supervisor with goals for the day of working at home.

With my wife working more or less full time from home, I didn't really do much work from home. I didn't have a station set up, I had a backlog of experiments that needed done, and there was no official policy in place to do it so I felt uncomfortable with it. Now with my wife heading back to the office and there likely being days she'll be there 10+ hours (just the nature of her job), pandemic ending and more people coming back to work to bother me, and potentially setting up an office area for myself... heck yeah I'll be doing some work from home.

We had an April Windows 10 update that broke printing on campus. We use Papercut to monitor printing, and some Windows patch was so broken that the PCs would blue screen when sending a print job to a printer. Poor IT guys had to scurry around and reload Windows on dozens of PCs...

April's update should have actually resolved the printing issue that was broken in the prior update. Papercut is awesome, FWIW. We use it - or at least used to, since nobody is on site anymore - for a few of our copiers.

Edit: It was March's update that broke printing: KB5000802
