Yes! My current situation would be a lot easier if it was six years ago, or six years from now. Moving kids in middle/high school and losing tuition remission is a huge deal for us.Yeah, that would be my biggest reservation here.Source of the post Why couldn't these jobs have come 10 years ago when I didn't have kids?

So this new opportunity would require a move? That's really tough. But think about the alternative - you may be out of a job altogether.Yes! Back when we were kids, people moved all the time. Seems like a generational thing where people just don't move out of the area anymore. Not that there's anything wrong with it, just an interesting anecdote.

Yeah, we moved all the time for my dad's job. Pittsburgh, Houston, Maryland, Philly. I wouldn't want to do it with my daughter unless she was going to a new school. And even then, I'd have a hard time asking my daughter to leave her friends behind. So this new opportunity would require a move? That's really tough. Yeah, I moved from Massachusetts to Pittsburgh when I was almost 13, and then to Charleston when I was 16. These are the same ages (roughly) that my kids are now, and I was not a happy camper about it then. My kids are different than I was back then, and probably would handle it better. My wife was an Air Force brat and moved around like six times before high school or something.
Trust me, I'm ready to move out of this rural backwater. My wife can get a job anywhere, and get a raise in the district where we'd move to.
I'm concerned about buying a house in our potentially new area. We won't have any trouble selling our current house, just a similar-sized house would be $100K+ more than what ours is worth.
Then there's the loss of $300-400K worth of college tuition with my current employer...my current job should be safe for the time being, but with the cuts, loss of close friends on the faculty, I'm not sure I want to stay.
It's just tough all around...but I need to wait until I get an offer before I start sweating the details.

I'm sitting here wondering what my job is going to be as the company grows. We are evaluating a re-org as we raise our next round of money. Someone mentioned I might report to sales and I'm like
All these big re-org convos are happening while I am out on vacation for two weeks. So, this should be a fun return

I am currently in the process of transitioning (slowly) into a more strategic role. I have a team of two recruiters that work for me, but I take on a lot of the recruiting responsibility currently. Our goal is to go from a $100 million company to a $300 million company in the next few years as we get bought by a much bigger P.E. firm. I have approval to hire two more recruiters, which I am in the process of doing now.
Excited about the opportunity, but man, I'm stressed lol.

My wife's company paid $600 to be at a job fair today and sent 4 recruiters to hire folks. She said there were about 25 other companies there hiring skilled labor, welders, tradesmen, etc.
She said 41 people came through the door, and two people came to apply. f'ing two people.
