There's no way Randyll Tarly died... I don't watch the previews but for someone as significant as him, they would have shown him dying in horrific fashion. Not just a passing shot.
Looks like you were right. Horrific indeed...

Wonder what will happen to the Tarly's. I could see Dany going quasi mad king and burning one of them while the other watches.
good call, shmenguin

I actually think that was fairly merciful. It was literally 1-2 seconds of pain. The dude in mereen got the pulled pork treatment.

It's a pretty damn awesome group.
It felt a little like the Dirty Dozen for some reason.

The zombie heist plot is ridiculous... But what a glorious motley crew of characters involved. Should be entertaining.

Did anyone else think Gendry looked like Christian Bale with that haircut?

He looked very Bale like.

Also, found a cure? **** you Jorah. How about "I was rotting away at The Citadel and about to be banished before some fat dude who served my father at The Wall disobeyed his orders and carved this nasty **** out of me and saved my life."

And then Jon could have been like "Dude! That fat guy is my best friend! Is he doing well? Look, now we have something in common and you don't have to glower at me just because you're in the friend zone and she wants my D, your dad liked me better than you, and I'm carrying around your family sword instead of you!"

And then they could have high fived.

Re: Jorah

Nice to see you again, love of my life. So glad you're happy to see me too. I can't wait to catch up. Ok bye. I'm gonna go with these dudes who seem to have it covered and do this stupid zombie hunt. It's literally the only way I can serve you.

Also...gendry seemed to be dipping into that dornish nose candy all these years.

Not a dig. I thought it was legit entertaining. What a spaz.

I would not agree that it's the best season by far.

I liked ep 1 but 2 and 3 I was not a fan of. 4 was excellent and last night was...confounding, to be charitable.

I understand they had to somehow reorient the story and characters towards the Wall and the Night King but this "capture a wight and do a road show of Barnum's oddities" device is unspeakably stupid IMO. I have faith it will wind up being awesome but that is a bad way to achieve their goal.

...but I agree. Season 3 is the best. This season is entertaining but...different.

Let me rephrase: as far as pacing goes, this season is my favorite.

I think the pacing highlights the poor pacing of the prior 6 years, actually.

Sloooooow sloooooow slooooooooooooooow fast as sht

We slogged through a lot of filler only to be handed inverse filler this year. Not awesome.

The signal to noise ratio is at least >>> Walking Dead.

The difference between Walking Dead and GoT is that the latter actually has a finish line. Walking Dead really doesn't have one in sight. Now whether we'll like the ending on GoT is a different matter.

:thumb: my thoughts exactly.

The time machine thing is annoying but more enjoyable.

I have really loved this season so far.

I totally didn't realize Jon is technically carrying Jorah's sword. That's got to be awkward.

Also, this line-up looks like a team picked in a fantasy draft. :)

Jon Snow and Tormund is the QB/WR chemistry combo
The Hound is the power RB
Beric is another WR
Jorah is the solid TE
Thoros is the DEF
Gendry is the Kicker. He's replaceable, but you know he's going to earn a productive point output.

And Jon and Gendry have an awesome "we're the bastard sons of best friends" bromance going......... when in reality Gendry's dad caved Jon's dad's head in with a war hammer.

The way I see it, season 6 ended in a way that was meant to alter the pacing of the show. There were major power struggles everywhere, which then got consolidated with Cersei taking hold of KL on her own, Snow uniting the north with the wildlings, and Dany finally heading to Westeros. The periphery was wiped out and the story is now the 4 major sides. North, South, East and the Zombies.
