It jumped the shark when Eleven went to Chicago/Pittsburgh for pretty much no reason.
I just re-read the plot summary to season 3 and was surprised to learn that the stupid Eleven trip to hangout with her wierdo friends was in season 2. that must mean they were both really good seasons

S2 is the only 9 episode season in the series strictly because of that stupid episode.

Duffers took the popularity of Hopper's Tide commercials and thought that meant we wanted him screaming bad jokes at us the entire season.

I wasn't against more Hopper. I was against turning his character into a complete and total ass though.

I liked the move of the show to the mall in S3. Thought the Steve Harrington character really developed well. I did not like the Russian sub-plot. That seemed so forced and unnecessary. Just dumb.

i think it was sort of weird to sit through Steve getting tortured. like...that's a really clunky tonal shift. either it's the goonies or it's not. you can't have Steve getting the sh*t beaten out of him, and then have them sing the neverending story song...which ultimately made hopper die. just no storytelling acumen whatsoever in S3.

The show went from Season 1 being a Stephen King/Goonies with gore 80s nostalgia story to a big, dumb, 80s action comedy while still trying to keep the horror element in season 3. Tonally, it did not work. At all.

I guess I need to re-watch Stranger Things because I was excited to jump into this conversation but then I realized that I really don't remember much of it.

good take (better take, for example, than weenie's take on mike trout). I found myself wondering the same thing. A lot of the first season's plot I remember, but a lot of specifics.....not so much.

All the internet SJWs got very upset about no one in the show caring about the ugly friend dying in S1. Pretty sure that’s the main plot.

RIP Barb.

I remember season 1. The rest, not so much.

barb wore funny outfits and had funny hair and a funny face, so people wanted more of her funny grossness. i never thought it was a SJW thing.

Barb was a hipster so the hipsters loved her.

Yep, the seasons after the first were unremarkable. Other than Maya Hawke and her memes, I don't remember much of the non first seasons either.

And they kind of abandoned the upside down stuff in the other seasons.

“This is a Robbery” on Netflix was good, if a bit bloated like every other documentary series the various streaming services put out.

I was finally able to access Ted Lasso and it’s probably one of the best things I’ve seen over the first four episodes.

Been wanting to watch this as well. Show creator is the same guy that did Scrubs and have heard great reviews.

I’ll have to add that to my list.

In other news, I’m not terribly happy with the direction that McNutty is going in the final season of The Wire.

Ted Lasso is a must watch. Do whatever you need to do to watch it. You could side load Cinema HD onto a FireStick, or you could just subscribe to AppleTV+ for a month. It's like 5 bucks.
