First time I connected the dots between hearing Zeise on the radio and feeling compelled to drive your call full speed into a concrete barrier

I think I'm one of the few people that actually liked Cook, especially when they paired him up with Starkey. He seemed to have mellowed. Sure he was still a cranky old man, but I liked him.

At the risk of damaging my reputation, I'm gonna agree with NAN on this one. Cook was miserable to listen to when paired with Vinny, but Cook and Joe was fine and he definitely became less miserable as the years went on. Maybe it was just due to the onset of social media nonsense reporting and reactionary takes, but even when he had a terrible opinion he came off more level headed than the PM Team.

**** Ron Cook

Not to mention the "Trade Malkin because Staal is a guy you win Cups with" article in 2012 (despite Malkin winning the Conn Smythe lol).

Crotchety old ****.

I think Cookie is retiring to Florida, sounds like he's done done. I'm sure though he'll have a weekly call in or something

Hopefully this also means we can retire the annual "why I turned in another blank BBHOF ballot" article.

I loathe Cook. All the man does is say something, and then immediately repeat it but slower. It drives me insane.

It

drives me

insane.

Another writer out at DK, some guy named Alex Stumpf. DK has gone through so many people, he's hiring people I've never heard of before.
Now the Pirates beat writer for MLB.com. Solid upward move for him.

I love DK yelling at Dubas on his site saying he is sitting around doing nothing, needs to make it young, etc, etc like Dubas doesn't know that already. He doesn't have a ton of immediate options though. And you can tell he's poopy pants because Dubas talked to someone in Toronto before he did Pittsburgh.

This is his new thing to focus on instead of crime in the city.

I feel like DK and his group have kind of slid down the ranks here the past few months. With no real notable reporters, I couldn't tell you who works or who writes for his site, and I'm almost negative interested in reading what DK has to say.

Was in the car last night around 8PM and happened to turn on Da Fan and they were playing (as the voice over called it) "Best of the Fan" Replaying segments from their shows from I'm not sure when. I heard Pomp and Starkey and then Poni and Mullsy. What happened to Pittsburgh Dad Jr. being on the night show? Is Zeise done there too?

Who's been filling in for Madden last Friday and yesterday? I thought he was terrible and he kept throwing out really hot takes and saying "Mark would be proud of me".

Didn't listen but the only other fill in guy I've heard that isn't Benz is Mark's producer Tom I believe. The old "shirtless Tom" from Crowley's old ESPN radio show

DK flipping out that Jake will likely be traded. Has been saying for months that Jake will NOT be traded per his sources, and now reality is hitting.

Has been harping in his articles that Dubas is an idiot who signed a bunch of 30 somethings to contracts when the Pens need to get younger, but then wants to sign a 30 year old Jake to a long term contract.

He said there are other ways to get younger, and basically lists out that we need to trade all of our bad players for all other teams good prospects.

Also called Jagr a manchild in his article (which he is), but that's rich coming from probably the biggest manchild out there.

You can tell he hates Dubas, most likely because Dubas/Fenway won't feed him info like previous ownership/GMs did.

lol DK sucks. After I unfollowed him on Twitter during his incessant defense of downtown Pittsburgh, he's basically vanished from everywhere for me.

What is frustrating is that DK used to be pretty good, right? I remember enjoying reading his stuff, and he was actually a decent guest on Madden and other radio/TV appearances.

I completely agree that he's basically insufferable now, but when/why did that happen? Is it just an ego thing, schtick, or am I just misremembering what he used to be like?
