Hockey nicknames could not be less creative.

Step 1: Shorten last name to one syllable
Step 2: Add an "-er" or an "-ey" or a "-s"

Speaking of nicknames, since when has Madden referred to "Antonio Brown" as "Tony Brown." Boy he said that over, and over, and over, and over today. I was getting unsolicited Ellis Cannon flashbacks.

He started calling him Tony Brown a couple weeks ago. Once someone from the Steelers told him that Brown doesn’t like it he makes sure to say it as often as possible.

Assumed he figured it's a tactic to try to draw more people in since losing Yohe.

Also, he described his new hockey writer, and I quote: "Crazy intelligent, smooth writer, top reporter".

Broke down and subbed to The Athletic for this year. It's on special for $38.99. I don't think I'll re-up next year unless blown away - but I'll give it a shot.

This is what largely makes me think he's lost a lot of ground with the hockey stuff. That and the pandering with other cities about his platform, he must feel that it's a larger threat than he wants to put on.
