Is your signature legible?
Is your signature legible?
I'm curious as to a breakdown on signature styles. Some of my coworkers have signatures where you can clearly read the name. Other coworkers have signatures that are little more than squiggles, and if you didn't know the name already you could never get it from the signature. My own signature is in the former class; it's merely my name in my own standard cursive writing. If someone who does not know your name were to see your signature, would they be able to read and understand your full name?

Kinda...?
I use my first and middle initials and then my last name. The 3 initials are legible but the rest of my last name is mostly a squiggle...

Is your signature legible?
Nope, mine is probably like 2.5 letters tops, out of 13...
Is your signature legible?
Nope. I'm not as bad as an athlete, but with a capital cursive L for the M.I., and a capital G for the last name? No chance out of the gate.

Not just no, but hell no.
I sign first and middle initials along with 3 letters in my last name. 4 if you count the horizontal squiggle as a t. That's 5 letters out of 17.
Signing about 100 documents in about an hour before leaving the military ruined my sig. What's funny is that if you went through and reviewed the first signature that day and followed the paper trail to the end, you could probably see my signature regress by the minute.

I think if you knew my name, you could make it out. If you didn't know it, no chance.

Is your signature legible?
Nope. Not really.
First name, maybe.
Last name, first two letters then a squiggle
Suffix, yes.

Yeah, that is how mine is. The first letters of my first and last name are legible, and maybe one other letter. The rest is pretty much a squiggly line. And I have 17 letters.

Nope. The first letters are kinda somewhat legible... Sometimes. The rest is often a squiggly mark depending on how fast I'm trying to write it.

That happens on signed hockey cards as well.
The card serial number'd 003/999 is a lot nicer than 994/999...

My signature never looks the same but it's legible because it's just my name I'm cursive writing

Nope.
First name ends up -- First letter of first name then... squiggly line(only 4 letters in my first name I'm lazy haha)
Last name ends up -- It basically ends up one or two letters and that's it maybe a short squiggle line(only 5 letters in my last name). It's hard to explain.

My signature is actually print - not cursive. It's just stylized a bit.

Illegible.
My teachers always told me the point of a signature is to be hard to replicate whether legible or illegible. That is what I strive for everytime.

I crafted some uniqueness into my signature (one of my letters looks like No. 1), but, at the same time, it's perfectly legible. In fact, I consider illegible signatures a pet peeve of mine. I think it's borderline disrespectful to put unreadable signatures on personal letters and official documents. If, say, the Dean of Pitt school I graduate from can put a legible signature on a diploma that will be on my office wall for a few more decades, so can I put it on course certificates I sign for the participants.
And yes, my blood boils when I read a letter "please, consider doing something for me, sincerely - squiggly sign"
