Landon Wilson Donovan says he wants to try out as kicker.

While we are discussing the horrible coaching from last night, a commenter on Deadspin made a great point about the decision to kick that FG towards the end of regulation (that would make it a six point game). If you go for the first down and succeed, the game is over. If you go for the first down and fail, generally the WORST case scenario is heading to OT, because the opposing team will likely be playing somewhat cautiously for the tying FG, and not forcing the ball towards the end zone.

If you make that 41 yard FG, you have a 6 point lead. At this point, the opposing team has no choice but to go all out for the win, using all four downs the whole way down the field. Sending a clearly terrible kicker out there to extend the lead from 3 to 6 points was a high risk, little reward proposition. Four fourth down calls, not one touch for Bell. Lame.

That game right there is why you go for the FG to make it a 6 point lead. As usual, Deadspin is clueless. If it's a 3 point lead the Ravens tie the game and send it to OT but they had to try to score and Flacco threw a pick. Tucker's range is such that as soon as they cross midfield he could make a FG. You want to be able to give up a few yards but still force them to score a TD.

The question becomes what's more likely- Scobee making a 41 yard FG or Vick picking up 5 yards on 4th down. I think the answer is "pray for the sweet release of death".

Couple days later and I'm still pissed.

As oppose to the patriots loss, I was over it an hour later

He may not be better, but it would be hard to be worse. (knock wood.)
