31 Days of Halloween

Postby AuthorTony » Wed Sep 30, 2015 9:33 pm

I know there are a few other horror movie fans on the board so I thought it would be fun to make a list of what we watch in October. I usually try to get in at least one movie a day and then have marathon closer to Halloween.

I'm kicking things off a day early.

My List
Abominable
Devil

70s - Present
The Omen
The Shining
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Rosemary's Baby (Finally saw this last year. Where was it all my life? )
Alien (Kaiser's favorite movie. He has two box sets)
Aliens
Suspiria (the only Dario Argento film I've seen but it was Epic. The barb wire scene makes Saw look like a Disney movie.)
Dawn of the Dead
The Ring
House of the Devil (Netflix)
(For a first time movie I thought it was pretty good.)
The Hills Have Eyes (some people love it but I thought it was kind of lackluster)

Then there are Halloween/Christmas films (aka transition films). None of these are Horror films but they are great for Halloween.

Hocus Pocus
The Witches
The Nightmare Before Christmas

That's all I can think of for now.

I am not a horror flick fan. I've only watched a few. But I do love comedies that have story lines that are semi-based in the horror genre like Shaun of the Dead, so if people have more of those types of movies, I'd love to hear about them.

Not really a horror fan, but I watch the same Halloween tv specials we recorded in the 1980s as well as horror films from the 20s-40s (especially Universal). Frankenstein, The Mummy, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Black Cat, stuff like that. When I was little those were some of my favorite movies.

Every year I hope to find out that TCM finally got their hands on a print of London After Midnight, probably the most sought after lost film.

I got a copy of the WNUF Halloween Special that I'm excited to see.

I've been putting together a list to watch with the kids, probably won't get to see them all, but we will definitely be showing them Invaders from Mars (1986) for the first time. Others include:

Spaced Invaders
Hocus Pocus
The Witches
Monster House
Monster Squad
The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Young Frankenstein
Little Monsters

Wife and will probably be watching a handful from this batch this year:

Evil Dead 2/Army of Darkness
Christine
Nosferatu the Vampyre (Herzog)
Phantasm
Aliens
It's Alive
The Sentinel
but I'm mainly excited for Ash vs Evil dead premiere on Halloween night.

My office is having a cubicle/office decorating contest this year. I'm a row of five cubes, but only two are occupied. My coworker and I decided to use the whole row and go to town, but neither of us is coming up with any good ideas. Consider this my solicitation for suggestions.

fixed it... many people (mostly lead by mimh) decided to evade the censors by say f c k instead of the entire thing so it doesn't get censored out because they are too feeble minded to expand their vocabulary. one of the mods added a censoring of "f*ck" to the list which essentially means anything that has an f, some combo of letters and then ck would have been censored. seems as though flick is the only word that has been used that fits that set of standards.

I usually dislike movies that are funny horror but Shaun of the Dead was excellent imo.

The only one I can think of that is remotely close is Zombieland or something like the Dawn of the Dead remake.

I pinterested this and got:

https://www.flickr.com/photos/weege/160 ... /lightbox/

There was also one that used the entire cubicle row. This might be too much but there was an outline of a dead body on the floor, and Do not enter tape along all the cubicles with white batting oozing out from the bottom of the cubicles.

But I think that link was corrupted.
