Agreed as well.Yea, kind of agree. Penalty per the rules, yes. I wouldn't call it dirty personally.

I don't think it should have been a penalty, but that's called if it's Brady, Peyton or Brees. Ultimately it doesn't really matter- they'll fine Barron but the refs missed it, the Steelers had to punt, and they're missing their QB for the immediate future.

Was it dirtier than von oelhoffen?
I don't see it as dirty at all just trying to remember how it compares.

The intent of the rule wasn't to address dirty hits. Just unfortunate ones.

I thought it was very similar to the Kimo/Palmer hit in the playoffs years ago. Both unintentional, yet unfortunate.

I'm not sure how that wasn't a penalty with the new rule. He tackled the QB's shin, He was stumbling, but I didn't think you had to come in perfectly clean for that rule to be cited.
Doesn't matter though, damage done, Broeth shouldn't be taking hits like that. No reason to be dancing around the pocket.

They had consecutive possessions ended because of sacks. Either bad play call or Broeth holding on to the ball. I don't know, but either way, can't act like it was some act of god that just wrecked Roethlisberger's knee.

I suppose, I think the offense was pressing and the injury was a product of that. Not sure why that's such a radical take. This is quite the hot take.

Seriously? It was like 3 seconds from snap to injury.

Yes seriously, He was sacked on the previously play and also on the drive prior to that. If he's going to be taking that many hits, he's more likely to get hurt. It's a combination of play calling, the O-line and Broeth. I don't know why he shouldn't be held somewhat accountable.

if ben isn't going to try to extend plays, there's no point in fielding a team with the intent of winning.

Isn't that the whole allure of Roethlisberger? He's the "power forward" quarterback...they are so rare to come by and that's part of the reason why this type of player is (rightfully) rated above what his raw numbers might suggest...if ben isn't going to try to extend plays, there's no point in fielding a team with the intent of winning.

yes, it is. when a play breaks down and he shuts his little brain off, he's a god damn wonder. and getting to that point requires some time to dance around the pocket.Isn't that the whole allure of Roethlisberger? The only time the offense was having success yesterday was when he was taking what the defense game him and getting rid of the ball.
I think the injury is a result of them pressing the ball downfield. That resulted in four of the five sacks the Rams got and the terrible interception.

in a vacuum yes, but Roeth has a history of injuries now. I just looked and he only has three 16 game seasons...Eli Manning and Philip Rivers (drafted in the same round in 2004) haven't missed a game since they became the starters of their teams.Isn't that the whole allure of Roethlisberger? I think because of this, I sort of agree with Troy. It is a freak injury though

Ben has had the inclination to hold on to the ball a bit too long in the past, but the play he got hurt on yesterday was not one of those plays. Sometimes crap just happens.

Roethlisberger is Cam Neely. 82-game seasons are for people not trying hard enough...
Plus, he's never played less than 12...and routinely starts 13 or 15, if not 16 games a year...for a player that plays like he does, with the o-lines that he has had...that's a testament to how strong he is...
I forget, did he miss time because he forgot to lurnt how 2 rode motorbike...?

I don't disagree with that.
I'm talking more about the offense as a whole (and Broeth is a large part of it). First 2 drives were 25 plays, 160 yards and 9 points.
Then the next three drives had a terrible interception thrown deep to wheaton, the drive to close out the half was killed because of a sack and a holding call. Then he was sacked twice on the first drive of the second half, one of those being the injury. The offense was terribly out of sync when the injury occurred.
