Best local summer festival?

Postby DoDiligence » Mon Aug 24, 2015 10:19 pm

Had a great time at Bloomfield Little Italy days this weekend. Brought up the question what are the best or your favorite local summer festivals?

For local we'll say anything roughly an hour from downtown Pittsburgh, so for example Big Butler fair would qualify.

You must have missed the interaction I had with Mr Diligence in another thread. I know that's the joke.

Clearfield County Fair is worth a trip if you are looking for a good fair (although it has already passed this year). It's pretty big time, their tractor pull is second to none and they always get some big acts. On top of that, their rides and attractions feel more like Kennywood than a local fair. I remember when they got Styx to headline back in 2001 and I snuck back to their dressing room and walked in on Tommy Shaw in his underwear. Very awkward moment that ended with me saying whoa sorry guys and slowly backing out the door.

probably not, local festivals are my favorite part of summer, I love the history and small town pride of all these different places and events. It's a very cool way to learn about these places you'd otherwise probably drive through or never plan to go.

Jamestown, NY has a really nice Scandinavian festival as well. A lot of good food in that one (Korv!).

If you weren't aware, the Pittsburgh Comedy Festival is this weekend.

A lot of good acts, local and otherwise. I, for one, will be checking out Aubrey Plaza's improv group, among other shows.
