When Mark Madden says "I have a tested IQ of 166..." how does that make you feel?

My response is "Is that all?" I've actually tested higher than that. But I don't feel the need to point that out or brag about it.

I don't mind Madden's schtick in small doses and do think he provides good hockey talk regularly, but I often think something along these lines too. You keep saying you're a genius, but your life's work seems to be professional wrestling and pushing the buttons of yinzers as a sports shock jock. That seems like a waste of intellectual ability.

I think we all know its a wrestling gimmick... I find myself turning the show off during the brag sessions where Madden starts talking about how much more he knows than the bloggers. Frankly I find their insight into the sport far more educational than Madden arguing with an idiot that called about who should be on the fourth line. I'll take a Jesse Marshall article, a meow goaltending post, or a mikey hockey explanation any day of the week and twice on sundays rather than 10 hours of Madden's show when it comes to hockey. I've got about 8 minutes from work to home, and that's the time I listen to the show - in that 8 mintues it's not hard to find Madden contradicting himself on something, or talking up an opinion of his own that's not exactly hard to defend against people who are screened to call in as fodder for someone billing themselves as a "Super Genius". I would imagine if Madden dropped the gimmick and just talked hockey - his show would be more enjoyable - but over the head of the audience.

Someone called during ask Mark anything and asked when he found out he was a super genius and if his teachers pushed him to go into advanced classes or not.

He said he was tested with that IQ in like the 4th grade or something around there. Said they wanted to put him in gifted classes, but he had no desire to. Said he was bullied as a kid and had no self confidence or something to that affect.

Regardless of IQ, he has been said to have a six figure income, seems pretty smart to me.

Really? He lives the life. Goes on the radio and yells at people, writes a few articles, gets to go to sporting events, and I think he said one time he makes around $350K.

I think he set himself up pretty well. Doesn't have a high demand job where you are pounding numbers all day and I'm sure at this point in his career, he can give a **** less while getting more money.
