I’ve heard this idea thrown out a lot but I don’t see it as a problem
He suggested that this could fix the draft problem of the best incoming players going to the worst teams and also teams tanking to get the top picks.
You know what’s a problem? The fact that only 6 different teams have won the Premier League in the last 30 years and the Premier League has the most parity of the top European soccer leagues (Bayern is the only team to win the Bundesliga in the last 10 years). Meanwhile in the NFL there have been 14 different winners in the last 30 years
tanking sucks but I’d rather have the rubber band effect of the draft than the rich getting richer system the soccer leagues have

This isn't a super compelling argument coming on the heels of the NE Pats dynasty that went to like a dozen conference championship games in a 16- or 17-year span. But if it any way would make teams like, for example, the Browns even more comical, then I'm all for it.

Playoffs, divisions, # of games, etc. have a lot to do with that. You know what’s a problem? It'd be more appropriate to look at the FA Cup over 30 years (11 winners) or the League Cup (14 winners).
So it appears that in tournament style play relegation doesn't change a thing about the variety of winners.

Are the in-season tournament trophies like FA Cup or Copa del Rey considered as prestigious or meaningful to the clubs as the outright league title? I've only ever followed casually, but I always got the feeling that those competitions were sort of a B-tier thing. Like the 'A' players would often get rested, the backup goalkeeper would bag most of the starts, things like that. I don't know, it was kind of the perception I had.

Very much so. In England the FA Cup is a huge ducking deal while the Carabao Cup (League Cup without sponsorship) is considered less so. Bigger clubs will rotate against lesser sides and the backup keeper will see some game time, but when the competition level improves it's the main XI getting used. Both cups also earn you a spot in European competitions. Most countries only have one cup competition, but the point still stands. Winning a trophy in European soccer is incredibly difficult (cries in Tottenham) and clubs always go balls deep to win.Are the in-season tournament trophies like FA Cup or Copa del Rey considered as prestigious or meaningful to the clubs as the outright league title? Yeah. Who amongst you Stillers fans wouldn't love to see the Browns or Ravens get relegated? We (Chiefs fans) don't take our divisional rivals seriously so I don't dislike any team with any particular passion, but I wouldn't mind seeing any Belichick team get relegated. This isn't a super compelling argument coming on the heels of the NE Pats dynasty that went to like a dozen conference championship games in a 16- or 17-year span. I grew up a Raiders fan. I was an Army brat and so had no regional affiliation. My older brother loved the Cowboys, so naturally I went in the opposite direction. He went white hat so I went black hat. I was a Raiders fan up until maybe the late '80s when I lost interest in football altogether -- replaced by hockey. Then when the Capitals won the Stanley Cup I lost most interest in hockey. This nicely coincided with Mr. Andy Reid and soon Mr. Patrick Mahomes. Nice timing.1. The answer is always the Raiders
But I loved the Raiders for many years of my youth. I remember listening on a transistor radio with an earpiece when I was lying in bed trying to be as quiet as I possibly could after my father had yelled at us in no uncertain terms to shut up and go to sleep. I have since learned that the play was called "Red Right 88." Mike Davis intercepted Brian Sipe in the endzone at the end of the game. Whooop!! I was muffling my face in the pillow and pounding the bed as quietly as I could. They went on to win the Super Bowl against the Eagles who were quarterbacked at the time by Ron Jaworski, one of the few well-known alums of the college which I would later attend.
When I was about 13, I even spent my lunch money to buy a knock-off Cliff Branch jersey in Itaewon in Seoul. It fell apart in a couple of years.
I still have a soft spot in my heart for the Raiders, if only because they seem to be so pathetic.

Good. That relationship is broke, will bode well for the division.

kind of amazing that after all this, he’ll still be in Baltimore. I’m guessing he probably got a little less guaranteed than Hurts

eh the total contract number doesn’t mean much. I’m curious what the guarantee is
