The Switch Lite is going to kill a lot of the joy for me. With the fixed controllers, the gyro's in the JoyCons become worthless because you're developing for both "systems." Mario Party Superstars for instance won't use the Joy-Con movement functionality.

Why does Nintendo seemingly take steps back with their system refreshes well, systems in general. Such weird design choices based on how the rest of the world has gone.
They could make a better next gen type system and sell mega bucks if it could compete with the rest. It's like they aged our their home runs and are OK with letting them slowly die.

Nintendo hasn't cared about being at the forefront of hardware tech since SNES. That's not what sells their consoles.

Nintendo still makes money hand over fist. As @nocera said they don't care about being latest and greatest hardware wise.. they know the fanboys will buy anything that is zelda or mario basically. Can't really blame them to be honest.

Nintendo is far from dying a slow death. They've had some duds, but they've hit homeruns as well with the Wii, Switch, DS, etc. And their first party games will sell a lot of systems as well. Nintendo has gone a different route than Microsoft or Sony. And it works extremely well for them.
I've been hearing about the death of Nintendo since the Gamecube. That was 20 years ago.

Physical consoles will die long before Nintendo does.

My favorite Nintendo tidbit is how they slap down content creators from streaming games or press events. It's like they are stuck in 1980 or something. That's how games are marketed and hyped; let the fans do (most of) it.

Some smart companies are getting Twitch and YouTube streamers to play their games in paid advertisements. Probably way cheaper to pay a streamer a few grand for a couple hours than pay for ads on TV

Meh, I don't mind if they smack them down. Some creators are literally developing games using their charactors etc that they have invested a ton of time and money on. I don't blame them for smacking down people stealing Mario to build their own game or stream an existing game. Those IPs are worth a crap load of money to Nintendo. You start allowing people to use them freely, I don't think that helps them what so ever.My favorite Nintendo tidbit is how they slap down content creators from streaming games or press events. So my wife didn't really get mad at all. She still said she didn't "need" it haha.
Need to find the matching stool for it at some point. Put it between the Turtles and NBA Jam machines. I also need to find some sort of Arcade sign to put above the machines, but haven't found anything I liked yet.

My soul needs that NBA Jam cabinet.
I just happened to watch this the other day, it's a dissection of the NBA Jam rubberbanding:
Pretty cool seeing the stuff you 'knew' was happening when you were a kid being explained. It doesn't explicitly cheat, but it makes a bunch of parameters and puts them in play so the outcome is pretty predictable.

https://www.polygon.com/22576057/legend ... ntrols-wiiPretty sure you had to use the wiimote, nunchuk and motion plus.I really enjoyed it for the Wii. I remember the controls being kinda cool, but I thought you could play on pro controller as wellOwn it for the Wii, but that is the only Zelda game for the consols I never played. I'm just going to pick it up for the switch and play it on there.Dreamcast was awesome. Excited for Skyward sword on switch next week.
I hope the new controls are good, I'm just skeptical knowing that the game was specifically made to take advantage of the motion plus.
Hopefully yinz report otherwise.

Mass Effect 2: None of the guns seem to impact much damage. I have to shoot everyone about 350 times to get them to die.

My reaction, too. Imagine having your Steam library in your hands while waiting at the DMV, lol.

Stupid question here... can you play games offline on it? Like if I wanted to take this on a flight or something?

Especially since you can uninstall the SteamOS (Linux based) from it and install Windows instead. It's straight up a micro PC.
