I'm a musician and I understand music to an extent but I can't even begin to comprehend how these prodigy kids understand music.

Tom Jones kinda became a highly likable caricature of himself in later life... His turn in Mars Attacks was great. Supremely talented

I snuck into a Tom Jones concert when I was young, it was wild. Underwear everywhere.

I was very pleased when Skaggs received a National Medal of the Arts (highly deserved), as I am a big fan. The above is disappointing though.

Foo Fighters just announced a show at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills on Tuesday the 15th. Proof of vaccination, 2-ticket limit, in-person purchase.

Venue capacity is 610. It's a 10-minute drive from our house.

The closest I saw to Pittsburgh is Cincy, which I think is about 4.5 hrs away. It's on a Wednesday and is of course sold out. Looked on the secondary market and tickets are already in the mid $200's.

I found out last night was that there is a 40 yr anniversary tour for Remain In Light with the band Turkuaz. But it looks like it's a very limited run, the closest place to see it is about 5 hrs away in Scranton, and there are only 1.5 original Talking Heads in the group.

They are playing in Masontown WV, but that is one of two places on the tour that will not be doing the Remain In Light show.

At least they have Adrian Belew. It wouldn't work w/o him.

Yeah, this ended up being an utter shitshow. Venue capacity was 610, but with band list/VIP handouts you're talking about gen pop availability of maybe 300-325 tickets. People formed up a line Saturday night, so that by 7 am there were more people in line than there were tix available (assuming each was buying 2). So the venue started selling tickets an hour before the posted lineup time which itself was 2 hours before the posted boxoffice time. So I woke up yesterday morning to 'sold out' notices. I went to the venue to see what was up, and there were 4 LA County sheriff ground units on scene, because the 70-odd people who were still in line were technically 'loitering' at that point, and wouldn't disperse. (The venue is part of a small strip mall-type situation, so the other businesses in the complex were impacted by potential customers not being able to park) There was an older dude in a Van Halen tee that desperately wanted to throw with security - because Foo Fighters tickets are just that important - and I kind of got involved, and had a deputy pull me away from the guy, in part because I think the deputy realized I was the reasonable one and would respond appropriately.

The venue - Canyon Club, Agoura Hills - is getting properly roasted on social media over their mishandling of this. If you're going to put one of the biggest live acts in the world in a small theater venue, don't do in-person lineups for tix at all. Do a Ham4Ham kind of thing and make it a lottery to disincentivize lining up.
