Summer solstice

Postby shafnutz05 » Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:42 pm

I’ve always had issues with SAD, though with working from home this year it hasn’t really be an issue so maybe I just hate going to work? Regardless friends of ours live in Oslo, which will get a whopping 5:54 of sunlight today. I can’t even imagine the misery.
:thumb:

Yeah it always hits me hardest in January and February because even though the days are gradually getting longer, I struggle with the holidays being over, putting the tree out to the curb, lights away, etc.

First weeks of January suck. My wife's birthday is January 31 and if I put a little bit of effort into Valentine's Day she more than reciprocates, so mid to end of January things tend to pick back up.

Once March 1st hits it's like a mental hurdle for me. Between the winter doldrums and working 70 hours a week, seeing the end in sight, opening day, the masters, March madness, everything on the horizon is nice. 2020 sucked because none of those happened and the deadlines moved to 7/15. **** 2020

5afs solstice enthusiasm has inspired me to host a solstice party to celebrate the longest day of the year. I'll take any excuse to day drink, smoke some ribs and play some cornhole and kan jam
This is now a thing that my friends look forward to each year. Success. See you soon summer solstice

I'm sorry, but hard seltzer is the dumbest idea ever, and this is coming from someone who admits that he once bought a case of Zima. (In my defense, I had literally just turned 21 and didn't yet know what good alcohol was.) You could buy a case of flavored seltzer at the grocery store and a handle of cheap vodka and just emboozen your own fizzy water yourself for a fraction of the money.

Earliest sunrise of the year was last week. Despite the solstice being tomorrow (and thus the longest day of the year), your annual reminder that the latest sunsets will start on the 23rd and continue through July 1, before they begin to slowly get earlier.

So even though the days are slowly about to start shortening, we can enjoy the latest sunsets for a couple of weeks after

Today is the summer solstice.

I hope everyone has been enjoying themselves over the past month or so since the cdc announced that vaccinated people are safe to act like human beings again. Personally, I’ve been a busy bee and have been very fortunate to spend some quality time with quality individuals since stuff is gotten normal. There were 25 new COVID in Allegheny county today and like 250 in the state has a whole. This is all good stuff.

This is prime solstice weather today. Gonna be hot and sunny, just how the solstice should be. So as usual, i hope every one of you takes time to give thanks for all the goodness in the world (there is a lot of it out there) while spending some time outside.

Enjoy it you ballers.

Over the remainder of the month, the day of the solstice (which is also my bday) is the only full day I'm working.

Work Monday, followup to surgery on Tuesday, and I'm out Wednesday to Wednesday.
