Yeah, they didn't bury him or anything, but I still don't get the decision to have him lose here. Sometimes the obvious result is the way to go.To be fair they had Hangman kick out of multiple finishers, get lots of offense in when it was 3 on 1, and had him lose to a belt shot after multiple v-triggers.Yeah, I don't get this at all. They will probably find some way to come back around to the match, but it doesn't need to be complicated.I'm also quite surprised they ended up having Hangman and team lose last night. They've got 5 weeks left, and I hope they didn't kill Hangman's rise for Bryan or Punk.
Hangman's time to win last night with the DO was last night. It felt like it killed the pop, essentially.
I don't disagree with the overall point but it's not like he lost clean in the center of the ring.

Tony Kahn. He allows the talent, particularly the "elite" to have a hand in their creative, but he is the man.Who is the booker for AEW?

I'm hoping the obvious finish is that he gets a title shot, because Omega is over-confident, and then Hangman ends up kicking out of the one move that's so protected, that they'd use the kick-out at a time like this.
I truly enjoy protecting finishers, the one-winged angel is a move that needs to be treated with such respect, that it'll be huge when Hangman kicks out of it and wins the title.

I think there is a good chance that will happen when Hangman eventually beats him.I'm hoping the obvious finish is that he gets a title shot, because Omega is over-confident, and then Hangman ends up kicking out of the one move that's so protected, that they'd use the kick-out at a time like this.

I just wonder why it wasn't enough for him to win here to set up the match.
Maybe they're delaying it until the next ppv or something due to the DB/CM punk stuff, but it feels like a swerve for the sake of a swerve atm.

That is extra amusing to me because I just heard a segment with Cornette answering a question on whether or not they should try to get a pizza sponsorship for that spot the other day.
He responded as you would expect, but here we are.

Well... he’s not Randy Orton and you know we prectically handed him the brass ring 100 times but he still couldn’t win and get over. Come on pal, at a certain point you gotta commit to a character like IRS who had a clear agenda. This creative **** has no place here and let’s be honest you don’t have a six pack. “Thanks” for everything you did but you just couldn’t get over and we have nothing for you. **** you, now let’s see what muscle head should be next. Did we mention **** you.OK then...

I’m willing to bet that he asked for his release.
Nevermind. Meltzer said it was due to budget cuts and Bray was planning on returning in August.

This company boggles the mind. They have basically the same few matches every week on tv, yet they are shedding talent left and right due to "budget cuts" when they are already raking in money hand over fist...

2020 was one of the most profitable years the company has ever seen, including during golden era Hulkamania and the Attitude Era. While most live event companies struggled through a pandemic, WWE saw record profit. Even if they never sell another seat for a live show or another T-shirt to some sweaty neck beard mark, this company will make be swimming in cash like Scrooge McDuck. They don’t need fans while they still have their TV and Peacock deals.

Randy Orton really is the legend killer.

Adam Cole's contract is up at the end of the month. WWE Execs thought they signed him through next year, and they miscalculated. What a Mickey Mouse organization lol.
Either way, Cole is 100% AEW bound as his wife is there. He'd just have to be, I figure.

Oh wow, if they lose Cole to AEW, that is legit huge.

Have to assume that Charlotte is gone as soon as her contract is up as well.

AEW at some point is going to have to trim some fat from the roster if more and more people keep coming in, or be selective in who they sign.

I still don't watch AEW. Then again I don't watch WWE tv either. But if Bryan and Punk arrive, I'm all in, as they say.

AEW is also getting ready to debut their second show, so they will have more TV time for this talent.
Incidentally, both Dynamite and the debut of Rampage are in Da Burgh next week. Anyone here going?

I don't think they should pretty much sign anyone else past Cole, imo. I wouldn't sign Bray, or Braun, and anyone else really could establish themselves on Impact, since they play nice with AEW.AEW at some point is going to have to trim some fat from the roster if more and more people keep coming in, or be selective in who they sign.
