Apparently Braun had a huge contract set to pay out between now and 2023. Some are saying that it may just be a cost cutting measure prior to going back on the road. Still, he was Universal champion last year. Black JUST debuted a new character (there's even a t-shirt preorder on the shop). The rest haven't done much recently.
Yeah in many ways the Black release is the much bigger story in context, although Strowman is obviously the bigger name.

So they let Black sit around for like a year, wouldn't let him go back to NXT, finally start using him and they release him. Great company to work for, I'm sure.

I took a LONG break from the something to wrestle podcast. Jumped back in today. I swear, if Bruce didn’t whine about Meltzer each episode would be 20 mins shorter. I literally skipped 3 mins of one part and he was still complaining about him instead of talking about the topic.

This show took a nose dive once Bruce rejoined WWE. It had nose dived before that too when it became much more structured and Bruce was clearly just reading through a pre-written response. It nose dived again when Conrad had like 20 podcasts to host so he stopped being the one who prepared the notes. He was less passionate about the prep and came off like a game show host more than an active participant. And let's not even get into the catch phrases, t-shirts, and constant ad reads.

Missed the Foley episode of Biography but have it set to record on Friday morning. Such a fascinating guy. Hope it’s good.

The Smith family episode of Dark Side of the Ring is a rough watch. Had never heard about any of this, but all of Jake's issues make sense in hindsight.

I just watched it and honestly felt like they should’ve went harder on his dad. **** that guy.

Seems like they made it more about the kids trying to come to terms with it/getting it off their chests than the acts themselves.

Could have certainly been harsher on the dad for sure though.

I never saw him wrestle, so I know nothing about him except that he's married to Charlotte Flair.

He definitely has "the look" of someone who could be a star.

That debut though... Woof. No music, and Vicki Guerrero shrieking unintelligibly into the mic was not a great way of doing it.

If they couldn't get the music in time, seems like they would have been better off waiting on the reveal.

Also, didn't TNT tell them "no more surprise debuts on Dynamite" at one point?

Joe Ruud, better known as Erick Rowan in WWE and more recently as Erick Redbeard, might be retired.

His Cameo page has him listed as a "former professional wrestler"

Looks like there's a house show at PPG on July 24th. Nice to see WWE getting back to live audiences. Hopefully the this means the ThunderDome is over. I **** hate that thing.

I almost want to go just to go to a live event of some type, but then I realized what a **** product it has been for the last 6 months, year, or whatever.

yeah, you're probably right. It has been sht for awhile now, but at least I'd try to tune into the big four PPVs and at least leave the monthly ones in the background as ambient noise.

I think I'm down to occasionally reading the wrestling news sites and not much else. I know I didn't watch the PPV this month, and I definitely didn't watch Mania. Even with the NHL coming to a summer stop soon, you'd think I'd be looking for something to watch.

TIL
In 2008, former WWE writer Dan Madigan revealed that in 2004 he had pitched directly to Vince McMahon an idea to have Heidenreich return as a Nazi stormtrooper named Baron Von Bava, who had been cryogenically frozen before being revived by Paul Heyman (A Jewish son of a Holocaust survivor), complete with Heidenreich wearing the red armband with the swastika and even goose-stepping to the ring. While WWE would eventually have Heyman manage Heidenreich, the pitch was considered so shocking that McMahon left the board room speechless and didn't return for the rest of the day

Nazi's are off limit for Vince, but stereotypical/racist Japanese characters aren't? Good to know haha.

If Vince disagreed with that, it's because it would **** up any promotion he may have had going in Germany. Remember when JBL goose stepped at a house show and there was a big to do about it? Literally illegal but I don't think anything really came of it from a legal standpoint. Mostly it was just bad press.

Not to mention the OTHER Heidenreich angle that Vince himself conjured up in an actual dream. The infamous 2004 vignette where he was pseudo-raping Michael Cole.
