Their taco pizza on thin crust is very good. Or, it was, I have no idea. The dessert pizzas also come on thin crust.

The Pizza Huts near me are in weird places. Blairsville, Harrison City, South Greensburg...what are they, Dollar Generals?

They might only do it for the buffet. I can't recall anyone ever ordering one. Do they still have buffet?

I just remembered that I did a JP wedding before I went into the military and our 'dinner' was at Pizza Hut. We took our witnesses. :lol:

I think that the pan pizza is no longer fresh dough but is preformed parbaked crusts. I can't confirm that but it makes sense to me the way it tastes..

I still like the pan pizza okay because of the bottom crust I think. The other crust options are bad.
I don't know why you'd order something like thin crust from Pizza Hut, personally.

I'll refer you to my "pan pizza gave me the shits" comment. We needed to try something different.

There is a Pizza Hut in Irwin..no clue if they do buffets. Would love to do that again. I remember way back in my early 20's...Wednesday nights were Pizza Hut buffets with my then g/f.

So, the pizza was definitely different than I remember. It used to be this thick crust, almost like Sicilian pizza. This was more traditional style (I didn't get hand-tossed pizza). That said, it was actually good.

The one in moon had a buffet pre covid. Haven't been by there since.

For many years when I was growing up a Pizza Hut franchise was literally the only pizza place in town, so it was either Pizza Hut or nothing.

When we would go on trips as a kid, I can remember getting Pizza Hut to the hotel room after a trip to the pool. Fast forward to last few weekends where we've been taking the kids to the school pool for swimming, and it made me crave it again. Got some last week and took me instantly back to those trips.

Going back to the nostalgia thing. When I was born my mom was a waitress at a steakhouse type place called....... Taylor's(?) in Altoona, which according to Google Maps was at the intersection of Plank Rd and Union Ave. After she started working at Mercy Hospital, that restaurant closed and the location became the first Pizza Hut (that I remember) in Altoona, and we would go there for mom-son night not least because they had table Pac-Man. Later, that was a place my hockey teammates and I would go for post-game 'team meetings' during our league playoffs; one of those teammates became and EMT, and on the literal honest-to-god night he got his certification we were out celebrating there and there was a big car accident right outside and he saved like two people's lives (one person's arm was traumatically amputated by their seatbelt) - that was a lively evening. (That location is now apparently a Five Guys) Flash forward, the family I joined when I met Mrs Tif had a longstanding tradition of having Pizza Hut on Christmas Eve during the annual Sharing Of Gifts and Opening Of Presents ritual.

So for me, when I hear "Pizza Hut", there are a lot of involuntary associations that immediately and automatically flood to mind. So whether the pizza is any good or not, I will kinda always like it.

In 2006 I applied for a credit card in exchange for a free large pizza at the one in Altoona on the corner of Juniata Gap and 25th (looks like it's still there)

Been to that one, too. I know that neighborhood well. PSU-Altoona is nearby; my uncle lived up Baker Ln (which isn't even a full mile from there); and my mom and cousin still live up the hill by the blue water tower.

My 4th-6th grade crush lived near the water tower and we used to play baseball together at the baseball field at the bottom of 4th Street.

Grilled a Santa Maria Tri Tip today and it was outstanding if I do say so myself.

With the price of beef ($37 for 3-1/2 lbs) it required full attention.

Butcher shop had a massive pork sale last week, got three 8-10 lb pork butts and froze them to smoke later, plus chops, country style ribs, bacon... there's a lot of hog in the freezer.

cracked open the big green egg for the first time this season. smoked some chicken breasts for a southwestern salad, smoked some queso for a work event today, finished off with some filets from the freezer on the open flame.

It's a nice video, but he doesn't even mention Memphis barbecue, which is usually considered to be equal to Texas, KC, and Carolina as the "big four" of major barbecue styles. An odd omission.

I’ve been getting frozen tuna steaks at Aldi lately and marinating them in soy, garlic, sesame oil, lemon, sugar and salt. Then searing them for like a minute each side. Really easy and really good. Served with rice that has garlic, butter, lemon and cilantro that my daughter makes. Good stuff.

I was hoping to find gyro meat at the store for Friday night’s fancy pizza (went to giant, which is on my way home to work rather than Trader Joe’s where I know they have ready made gyro meat). No luck so just bought ground lamb and made my own, but that left me with a lot left over. For my lunch prep I went with spring greens, farro with a lemon vinaigrette topped with the meat, red onion, red bell pepper, cucumber, crispy chickpeas, a dollop of tzatziki and a dollop of hummus.

It’s bomb. Really dig it.
