He was the funniest guy in any room he was ever in but look how he idolizes Dave at the end there. So cool.

This is one of my all-time favorite late night clips. Letterman always had his back. Letterman's appearance on Norm's show was fun too.

"Cos the light was on"
lol
That reminds me of the old Nate The Snake joke. (Google it)

David Spade seems highly uncomfortable sharing this setting with someone much much funnier than him.

“You’re gonna be hanging out in that bathroom a lot.
So I don’t blame anyone for anything.”
I’m buckled.

Doubtful, they were great friends.

Not what I meant. I mean sharing an improv space with a superior comic mind. Spade was no slouch back then. Him getting outshined by a less famous person doesn’t jive with the ego.

Yeah, Spade has always given off the aura that he can't "take it" from most people, especially given how much he gives...Norm being quietly better than him in every way doesn't really work with his style and personality...even though they were friends...

Spade has a bit of a reputation of not being able to take as much as he gives but he's not unliked in the community on a whole.

Man, this one is hitting hard. I don't know why, but Norm felt like a friend.

I'll be honest: I forgot how funny he was. Man, what a loss.

I'm not done yet. Norm pulling his roast set from an old joke book is genius.

Absolutely classic performance where so many in the audience didn’t get it, but the comedians on the dais were rollling with laughter.

My initial comment ITT after his passing was to quote Norm's response to Jim Norton's jab at him over this set. (Henry Fonda picking blueberries) This is one of the most important 5 minutes of stand up of the last 25 years imo, and I still remember Artie Lange breaking it down on THSS the next day and explaining its sheer brilliance. The commitment and delivery is just outstanding.

Jim Norton on O&A was great...his standalone standup is only all right...

I saw him twice back in the O&A days, but I also enjoy his type of humor.

Been re-watching clips of Norm's Weekend Update and his standups.. Fantastic. Him and Dennis Miller were my favorite anchors on WU. RIP Norm.
