reports on twitter are saying that Shock G from Digital Underground has died at the age of 57.

He was the one that had a nose that was big like a pickle.
Went most of his life with everyone thinking his name was Humpty.

...wasn’t the nose fake?

Rap ruses get no better than Humpty Hump. The alter-ego of Digital Underground's leader Shock G, Humpty's mythology has him wearing a fabulously-personalized Groucho Marx-style nose to cover up horrific facial scars incurred during a (fictional) accident with a deep-fat-fryer and rapping about randy escapades that, according to lyric lore, took place in a Burger King bathroom.

Background on the Clarke accident:

He was in LA with Brandon Boston working out to get ready for the NBA Draft. Clarke had supposedly signed with an agent earlier this week. He was traveling in an SUV alone (Boston was in the car behind him) when he ran a red light at a high rate of speed, clipped another car, and continued into a pole and block wall. He was improperly wearing his seat belt, according to the LAPD. Video from a nearby house's security camera caught the crash and confirmed witness statements. At the workout, Clarke's mom was recording it live for Facebook and she was by his side when he passed.

Clarke didn't play much for Kentucky this season due to injury but he was highly thought of in their freshman recruiting class and many point out that had he been healthy for the entire season, the Cats would have turned things around. He was highly regarded among a number of NBA players already and it was likely he was going to be a first round pick.

Read the stories about him a couple weeks ago when he was first put in hospice care. Two year battle that saw him lose over 70 pounds. Suspect that the liver issues were brought on by the amount of painkillers consumed during his playing career. Leaves behind a wife and two kids. RIP.

lol I looked up what he was actually talking about in that. A cook asked him to put 20 pans in the seawater to clean them overnight. When it was morning he could only find one because it was high tide

I'm saddened and angered by the death of sumo wrestler Hibikiryu (real name Amano Mitsuki). Hibikiryu was a lower-ranked wrestler who suffered a spinal injury in the March tournament when he landed head-first on the dohyo after a throw. He laid there, face down, for over four minutes before anyone checked on him at all, and when some ushers and coaches finally showed up, they rolled him over and put him on a stretcher without any neck support or stabilization. He ended up not being able to move from the neck down, and it's not clear whether that was exacerbated or even caused by moving him. The Sumo Association went into silent mode after the injury, but there were some leaked reports that he was still paralyzed. On Wednesday evening, Hibikiryu suffered a pulmonary thrombosis from a blood clot (a risk for paralyzed persons), and he died of acute respiratory failure at age 28.

There are some areas where the Sumo Association is infuriatingly ass-backwards, and its approach to injuries is one of them. There are no ringside doctors, paramedics, or athletic trainers. Hell, there are no paramedics or trainers anywhere in the building. No one is on standby to respond to injuries, and no one is trained to deal with serious injuries even though sumo is a combat sport with a constant potential for serious injuries. The lack of care is sickening, and now a young man is dead. If this happened in the US, the Sumo Association would be sued into oblivion.

I love Blow. Very enjoyable movie. 78 is a solid run for a cocaine smuggler.
