Source of the post If I were a popular celebrity, I'd be hiding in a bunker until 2017 hits.
There are a lot of people famous for one thing, I doubt 2017 and future years will let up any.

Fear not death, anyway.

Was joke.
I had a whole "zomg 2016" backlash rant cued up for a few days but never bothered to let it loose, and that was a snippet of it. I'll just wait for "ermagawd 2017 worst year eva!!!" and start calling people stupid then. Should be in about two weeks.

I will say this is probably more significant news than the voice of the trash can dying.

I'm especially upset about this one...she was very young compared to the rest of the Star Wars cast, but the drugs obviously took a toll. Those long flights are notorious for DVT too. Ugh. I really enjoyed seeing her in the new movies too.

Carrie Fisher was always on my list of people with whom I'd love to hang out for a day. So smart. What incisive wit and a way with words.

Upset about these last 2. Far too young. RIP George and Carrie.

As someone who's struggled with bipolar disorder...it was this documentary and, in particular, this interview that actually put into words the things I'd experienced without ever finding the proper words to help people understand. RIP Carrie.

It wasn't mentioned before, but is worth note that Vera Rubin died as well:

He was the narrator for Underdog. The late Wally Cox voiced Underdog.

Yes, thanks for posting this :thumb:

She's one of the people I look up to, for not just the contributions she made to astronomical science, but her sheer love of it as well. The concept of dark matter is fascinating.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing...or 2017 starting out that way.

Her husband is in damn fine health considering his age...95!! I saw a video of him walking around meeting people just a couple of weeks ago, he's getting around well. I'm not a royal family nut, but he's probably my favorite British royal. He just doesn't give an F.

Yeah, I just found out about Ms Rubin.

We're going to a Cirque show Saturday, and I'm half afraid to go for fear of how many artistically and scientifically important people 2016 might slay in its 'red wedding' sayonara while we're off having fun.
