I just realized we are beginning to see Pirates prospects younger than at least one of my kids. Ugh.

Anyone buy fitted hats? Is the sizing accurate.

Ordered a fitted Pirates hat in size 7 1/4 and it's too small unless I'm Bryce Harper who wears his hat way atop his head. It's a starter hat so I would think the sizing is correct.

I have another one that's 7 1/2 and it's a bit too big.

I have the answer. Buy 7 3/8

I already have the return in and getting a 7 1/2. I'd rather it be too big than too small.

Phillies have some swag going into the playoffs again. They will be a tough out, their starting pitchers are not shut down guys, but they have a lot of HR threats, will be interesting to see if they are able to knockout one of the big two.

Triolo is separating himself from the pack for IF playing time. At this point, if they do sign a starting 1B, i'd want Triolo the everyday 2B, and Pegeuro and Gonzales in Indy getting everyday playing time next year.

I assume Oviedo and Keller are done for the year, I know they also shut Falter down, but really no reason to squeeze another Keller start in. Just throw Bido or something against Miami.

Walker threw out a j-hay comparison for Triolo. I like that. It Triolo keeps hitting they will find a spot. He’s a good enough defender at more than a few places.

Management wants bae to be what Triolo has been.

His obp is unsustainable, but I also think there’s plenty of room for improvement on his sub .400 slg. Floating around .800 with plus defense across the diamond is quite a value add

Last 30 days. Interesting numbers from Suwinski, Peguero and Priester. Such bad starter or bulk ERA despite playing solid. Oviedo is outta gas I hope. If he can reign in a little control he could be great next year but we'll see.

A lot of those individual stats explain why i am less excited than most of you for next year. Sure, there will be less starts by the Bailey falters of the world, but guys like that are still going to have prominent roles

Hayes has cooled down a lot, but still putting up respectable numbers. I like how that core group is finishing though. Leaning on Hayes, Reynolds, and suwinski is what they are designed to do.

Even just a small step forward for endy to being a .700 ops guy would be a boost, and they have enough MI options that pegeuero can regress and that be unnoticed.

BC is the on that needs to do his job this offseason. There’s no question that the pitching staff requires investment and bodies.

Triolo is a good example of peak years control and a benefit of drafting college guys. He may not be the highest ceiling guy but his polish is very useful. (By the way he's a year and a half older than Suwinski.) As a 24 y/o in AA he wasn't bad with a .795 ops. With his great defense would he have been a 21yo in AAA eeking out a chance (like Marcano was) had he been drafted out of high school? Maybe started his clock then instead of at 25yo. As a mid ceiling guy the Pirates can benefit greatly by controlling his peak years.

Peguero, 22, is a bit different. He's like a Polanco or Marte or really lower but for these purposes that's fine. Not as polished but with a higher ceiling, someone like him may still work out for the Pirates starting his clock early. He may not hit the ground running and give the Pirates a chance to extend him after moderate success and bank on him really breaking out. That comes with its own issues if he really becomes a star but is locked to a "great deal" and can become disgruntled or falls in the outfield trying to run and never meets his projection.

With the Pirates not showing much aptitude at developing polish in their prep picks it would be useful to hit on some of these college picks like Brannigan for example to play roles on the team at a Cardinals "good all around" level.

So it's been disappointing this year that none of the young guys broke out and that the notable call-up that did is only a year younger than Hayes

11-8 (almost the same as the score!)
11-9 (missed yesterday)
11-10. Let Phillies into the playoffs. Boo.
12-11

Missed two games.

2 of 3 this weekend would be fun.

I'd be cool with a 77-85 finish

I'd like to see them close out the season with a series win but also don't want the Cubs to make the playoffs.

Cubs in Milwaukee for 3

The Marlins have to complete a top of the 9th suspended game, leading 2-1 vs the Mets on Monday.

Don’t really care if the cubs or marlins get in. I just want to see the cubs do something dumb in the offseason again, not sure which circumstance is more likely to produce that outcome

That’s a good point on triolo, it is nice to have a guy like that controlled past his age 30 season
