It seems weird to me that the USGA was touting their work in developing the grass.

Speaking from personal experience, golf grass does not give good traction...

It's cold blooded, but JJSS had 933 yards in what amounted to 14.5 games. It's not like he didn't perform. That he had the corpse of BRoeth throwing to him the last three years isn't really his problem.
