I’ve never shorted before but this might be the first. I cannot imagine how this will be a profitable enterprise. Most social medias struggle in general to make money and Reddit has already done a good job at pissing their user base off

I have never had a Reddit account, but......... how old is the platform? It feels (and looks) like it has been around a good long while to still be running if it's not profitable.

My account is 13 years old and I made it right after Digg’s horrible redesign. That’s really when Reddit exploded, though it was certainly around before that. I knew about it as early as 2008 but I think it officially launched in 05.

the concept of the site is iffy. Upvotes encourage “least common denominator” type comments in a way. It’s less of a thing in smaller subs but in larger ones you can probably predict the top comments

One thing I realize I do quite often when trying to find opinions on something is searching google for “[subject] reddit” (for example last week I was making pizza dough and forgot to add the yeast until I was ready to proof the dough). Not because I think Reddit is going to give me a better an answer necessarily but it helps to find common thoughts in a more concise way than reading x number of random articles


I would say my social media use overall is 40% 5AF, 40% Reddit (but only some particular subs), 15% 4chan (mostly the /tv/ board) and then 5% instagram

2nd time in 3 days my alarm app has failed to sound an alarm despite the screen showing a snooze or turn off option.

Anyone got a good recommendation for alarm apps for Android? I was using the system clock previously before I ran into the same issue, and have been using Early Bird Alarm Clock since then. I don't know if it's updating and resetting overnight or what, but it's really annoying.

why do you need an app? assuming theres just a clock/alarm function on an android?

I had issues with the sound on the native app 2 or 3 years ago and almost didn't make it to work on time, hence the new app.

Maybe they've updated the default one since.
