Ah yes, I have fond memories of the time when I was a student and could definitely afford $50 standing room only tickets.

Matt Corral cut by the Panthers. Any dinguses here that wanted him over Kenny?
Patriots picked him up soooo the next Tom Brady has arrived....
The Pats had also waived all of their QBs not named Mac Jones. So their room isn't so much a case of "who's who" as much as it is "who's left".

Zappe was put on practice squad, so they're doing some trickery, but they didn't lose anyone really of non-value to them.

Right, I think both Zappe and Cunningham. But they were waived first. (I think that's how practice squad works, players have to clear waivers before teams can sign them to their practice squad)

I just don't remember an instance where a team waived the whole room aside from QB1 at one go like that.

Week one thoughts?

Can't imagine Bosa having much of an impact on this game, let alone even playing at this point, and I guess Kittle is hurt too? So 49'ers coming in a bit weak to the opener.

I think in the least the Steelers outplay them but could still easily lose (kind of like how they beat the **** out of Cincy most of opening day last year and then had to get lucky to win).

I think the true test is their offense vs. the defense. Without Kittle, they're weaker - but they still have like 1241241 weapons to pick from.

I still see it as a 49ers win, but I bet it's closer than expected.

I still have slim hope Bosa signs and plays sunday....kind of like Watt did a few years ago.

With no Bosa and maybe no Kittle (I think he will play) it will be interesting.

The 49ers always seem to start slow so I hate playing the Steelers week one on the road, but I still think the 49ers win 27-20 or something like that. I trust in Purdy more than I ever did Jimmy and they have CMC to run the ball.

Wouldn't be surprised to lose though especially if Bosa and Kittle don't play.

I think the line is something like -2.5. I'm not betting on anything but it was on the scroll during PTI. Who is the 49ers QB these days?

Seems like a low number of points considering that my algorithm is telling me that Pickett is due to throw for 600 yards this Sunday

Freiermuth is sadly going to drop a bunch of TDs in the red zone

There are key differences between the watt and bosa situations (mostly that watt was actually in camp)

My main point was I have no doubt that Bosa is in shape and ready to go. If they get him in this week and he gets a few reps in, he will be on the field.

That seems less likely by the hour though.

I don't doubt he's in shape. But I believe there's a new defensive coordinator right?

So you can put him in there to rush the passer, but I would imagine he'll be playing fewer snaps than he would otherwise would be.

I'm sure he'd be on some sort of snap count no doubt. I don't think changing D coordinators is that big of a deal though, his job is to sack the QB and disrupt the play. Not hard to draw that up no matter the scheme.

Another fun fact: Pacific Time Zone teams coming against the clock to play the 'early' game in the Eastern Time Zone historically only have like a .380 winning percentage or something like that. I'm not sure how that breaks down as mid-season vs Wk 1 affairs (where travel considerations are probably less impactful), but that's a fun thing to ponder nonetheless. It would be neat to see how each team breaks down in this regard, the 9ers as the road vs an eastern team and the Stillers hosting a western team.

It's a great test for both teams, imo, excellent way to get the season off and running.

Cut by the Patriots to make space for Zappe.
