Yeah, I saw that.

I can’t imagine this is the normal twitter monetization model, and that this is a pr move to try and take a cut of YouTube.

And sure, he can payout to mr beast, and maybe get some content creators to start posting on twitter, but, what’s he going to do? Pay Mr beast to post exclusively on twitter?

Masterful gambit of course. Whatever the objective is

I blocked that "ad" with Mr. Beast 3-4 times over the weekend.

Mr. Beast's celebrity is so inexplicable to me. I was in a gas station last week, saw a "Deez Nuts" peanut butter candy bar and saw that it was produced by Mr. Beast's company (who I also know has a Mr. Beast Burger chain). I guess it's just a generation-disconnect thing because his videos are painfully dumb to me

His burger chain is a ghost kitchen. Still impressive but not as crazy as having brick and mortar franchises everywhere. I’ve never watched a Mr Beast video (I’m 30+ years older than his target demo) but by all accounts he appears to be a solid dude who tries to do good with his fame.

Same, and agreed. Pretty sure I saw an article about him recently where he was funding new wells being drilled all over Africa.

If this is happening, it's not a violation of Xwitter TOS/TOU like behind-the-scenes favoring one contributor in some way to drive traffic. It would be an FTC violation.

Yeah, he has even separated himself and I think is in a lawsuit (brought by him against whatever entity agreed to make the food) over the Mr. Beast Burger because of the poor quality.

All the guy has done is make silly videos and given tons of money away while helping people. The horror.

lol I never said I had a problem with him. just that I don't understand how he's famous. I also don't understand why people watch video game streams

Why do you watch sports? Almost anything done at a high level can be entertaining.

because it's fun to watch people who are the best athletes in the world. Video games streams aren't as fun because it exists in an artificial, semi-scripted world (note: I play video games so it's not that)

I also don't watch college sports and women's sports for a similar reason. the athletes aren't as good so it's less entertaining

also I totally understand that it's subjective and that we're entertained by different things. it's just hard for me to wrap my head around what makes his videos (or twitch streams, or onlyfans, or whatever) popular

I am in the same boat with streams. I'll watch clips, but I can't sit down and watch one person play a game by themselves. I'd rather just go play the game.

/read: I am way past the demographic of streams and understand the appeal to young generation. I hopped on the old fart bart and never came back.

lol it's not as simple as "it's porn". part of it is the parasocial relationship the models have with their fans. which I also don't understand. the models don't give a **** about you, even if you paid them $100

It’s fast food strippers. You get to stay home and the models really like you. For real, like they really are into you.

I don’t watch streams outside of tournaments, and even then it’s only the team I’m a fan of. That said, I do subscribe to a few pro Halo players and regularly watch videos of them playing. It’s impressive seeing how they play the game, and I’m definitely a better player myself after watching and listening to them.

Of course, that’s Halo. No **** way could I do that for **** like COD or Fortnite.

He was a mass murdering s**thead snowflake f**kstick who espoused and implemented left-wing economic policies. Left-wing economics is authoritarian—more government control of business, more government regulation of business, and the belief that businesses should be subservient to goals other that profits, such as the environment, the welfare of workers, the "public interest," etc. Right-wing economics is free-market capitalsm. If the government is telling businesses what to do and how they can be run, that ain't right-wing economics. And Hitler's policies very much told businesses what to do. Hence, he was not right-wing economically.

I find it fascinating that people on the left object so strenuously and viscerally to the reality that Nazism had left-wing aspects. But the same people don't react the same to the truism that they also share economic views with Soviet communism (tens of millions dead) Chinese communism (tens of millions dead), the Khmer Rouge (several millions dead), North Korean Juche (several millions dead), etc. I guess killing millions of people is okay so long as it wasn't done out of racism. *shrug*
i appreciate this post. fascist and nazi have been used to attack the right for so long that it's fruitless to try to be technically correct. it's just evil = evil is all that matters. hitler = far right. Blatant rascism is the main correlation. so if there is some far left stuff matching nazi stuff it doesn't really matter

I once got caught up watching a guy play a civilization type game where you'd grow crops in the islands and build navies and stuff against the computer. and i remembered i used to watch my friends play games like that since i didn't have a computer growing up. they can be kind of fun to watch if you have tons of time to waste.

I imagine it might have been fun watching old halo pvp stuff when i played it. might get some tips of how to strategize better and use tactics you might not have thought of.

Speedrunning is where watching video games is fun. The charity event Games Done Quick (which is huge) was just in Pittsburgh. Watching people of peak skill beat games I enjoy incredibly fast is somehow super satisfying. They do everything from NES up through present day games. If you’ve never YouTube’s “games done quick” take a look.

Buddy of mine in the Navy was unbelievable at Civilization. It was honestly a blast hanging out in his barracks and watching him play.

I like watching streamers that are either insanely good or just simply entertaining. I’ll tune into Dr Disrespect for a bit and laugh my ass off. Dude is an entertainer. There are some PUBG guys I watch to improve my play or just to see how much better they are than I am. Either way, the reason people watch people play games is because it’s entertaining for them.

This is just another defend Musk no matter what argument. The entire purpose of the Nazi economy was to fund a war machine. It was not left. It was not right. The whole idea was the private business were there to support a war economy. Nazis were totally fine with private companies, as long as they supported the war effort when asked, like Mercedes and VW for example. Communism overwhelmingly does not support private companies. So by this definition alone, Nazis weren’t “far left economically”

Let’s just stop trying to say that Elon musk has any idea what he is talking about. And more importantly, why is a man so “busy” wading into truly **** idiotic twitter arguments. Oh, because he’s a total loser

Another thumbs up for spectating speedruns. It's not something I'd ever really be interested in doing myself, esp some of the campaign-based games with trophies and s**t. But watching, say, Anthony Caliber run Uncharted 3 in under 2 hrs (with Nolan North heckling him the whole time) can be a blast.
