Yesterday I stepped onto the 1st tee and hit my best drive in 2 years. Toed my approach shot 20 yards right of where I was aiming, where it hit a hillside slope and bounced hard right down a hill onto the road.

Went 7-8-8-7 on the first four holes (+14). Ended the round +22 so I guess I had a pretty good 14 holes.

You are describing what seems like every first hole to me.

This is a great watch...1995 was also Arnie's last British Open, so you've got plenty of great footage of that.

Callaway Mavrik. Hit some higher tier ones like the Apex and they are beauties but I hit the Mavrik way better than anything

No complaints here, it was a pretty smooth process. He knew what he was doing and was helpful

That's great ulf.

Throwback to the 2004 Masters. Watching that final round live is one of my favorite golf watching memories ever. I jumped higher than Phil did when he buried that putt.

I had forgotten just how well Els played in that final round, but Phil would not be denied.

Played one of my last rounds of the year* yesterday. Drove fine, putted fine (missed two long putts by about an inch combined), but probably pissed away 6 strokes on a 9 hole due to short chips. Chips that I needed to go 30 feet went about 10. Chips that I needed to go 20 jumped in the air and went about a club length in front of me.

The driving part was the big surprise of the day. I kept all but one ball in the fairway, and the one that didn't make it was only off the fairway by about 2-3 ft. I even managed to drive one 280ish, which I looked back at my group and said "yeah, shoulder surgery, my ass. Who needs it?" And then I sat down in the cart and thought "yeah, I do."
I don't know if this will really be one of my last rounds or not. Doc said I could swing irons in three months if everything goes right, so I could theoretically be back by late August. We'll see how it goes. Basically going with the expectation that there won't be much more golf this year.

very good question. I think because it's been such a long going issue, I just wanted to get it over with.

Plus after hearing a second opinion that involved a short recovery (less than 3 months), I wasn't too worried.

Anyone ever try www.spark.golf ?

Informal, during the week 9 hole weekly leagues. I have had a few folks here offer to play this year, which is great and I look forward to taking them up on it. But this might be fun, too. The two closest to me are Glengarry and Mt. Odin. Both are Thursday nights.

Weird scoring format. Pair up with a friend or be paired up by the organizer.
I signed up for this at Butler's golf course and played twice.

I am guessing it depends on the course you sign up at and the area, but thus far the participation has been limited. There was just one group of four of us last night. With basically the course to ourselves it still took 3 hours to play 9 holes, multiple holes just wandering around looking for balls for 15 minutes. Hoping it gets a bit more competitive later on in the season, my 42 was the best round by 6 strokes.

We're going to play Glengarry on Tuesday, first round of the year for them.

It’s blowing 25 here in central PA and this guy is gonna try to keep his launch angle below 10 degrees. This was likely a good decision to play.

Good God, best of luck today. It is exceedingly rare for central Pennsylvania to ever be under a High Wind Warning...usually that's reserved for the coast lines. I cannot imagine trying to play golf in this nonsense today.

So putter off the tee... and everywhere else?

I'm more on the "my clubs don't matter, if my swing isn't perfect then it won't matter if I'm using the greatest driver ever or one from the 1950s" side of getting new equipment but I've had some people say the driver I have in my bag (~16 years old Nike SQ Sumo 5000) is too old

my swing is fine. not the greatest swing in the world but not the worst either. should I consider getting a more modern driver?

If you enjoy playing and play more then say, 10 times a year, then yes
