The drill my instructor had me do involves taking your normal stance but don't be holding a club. Put your arms straight out and cross them over so the backs of your hands are together. Then take a slow backswing and bring it back to address. Then do it again. After the 3rd time, take a through swing. What that promotes is so you don't take the club too far back on your backswing which then promotes a casting move if your lower body doesn't start the swing, which was my entire problem. I was all upper body and while my backswing may have been on plane, I'd get to the top and almost come straight down. It was harrowing to watch on video. If you can start your turn with your lower body and the club just goes for the ride, then it won't be as chunky on the turf. I didn't make near the crazy amount of divots with my short clubs like I usually would.OP my friend. I changed my swing about 95% in the past year to get less steep and go more in to out. However, my divots with my wedges still would make Daniel Boone proud. What did you do to shallow out the wedges?
On the lessons side, I'm taking some for the first time in 17 years. Saw my swing on video during the introductory lesson and it's no wonder I take giant pieces of turf out with my wedges. I'm steeper than the Duquesne Incline. Today was my first opportunity to play after a pair of lessons and daily drill work to shallow everything out and get me more on plane.

Bryson DeChambeau, who will compete in both the Ryder Cup and the world long drive championship this month, said his hands are "wrecked" with calluses from intense training for the events.
DeChambeau discussed his "two-a-days" schedule during a recent interview with Golf.com, saying he hopes the unique atmosphere at a North Carolina-based training complex will help unlock his "full potential."
Golf.com, which published the interview Tuesday, described DeChambeau's hands as being callused and requiring tape.
"My hands are wrecked from it," DeChambeau said. "People don't realize how difficult long drive really is.

Azinger laid into Koepka yesterday. Ryder Cup week is going to be an even bigger circus than usual.

Koepka spending his entire career willing to give his left nut to play a different sport and then whining about how team competitions work is pretty on brand. Dude is a miserable selfish NTP66.

When did Koepka even say that stuff? If he said it within the past 5 months he's an idiot. Why be honest in that situation? I get why he would fell that way, but why say it?
I suppose we all know the reason why he would say it...he's a tool.

Don’t know when the interview was done but the comments were from the Golf Digest released this week. I imagine the interview was recent enough.

Just looked at that scorecard. Looks like 10 destroyed your round, did you shank your tee shot into the water, and then yank your shot on 11 into someone yard?golf is easy fellas

Yes.
10: I played it "safe" and clubbed down to a 5h on the teebox. I duffed it down to the shed, about 15 yards. Then duffed it into the forward tee box. THEN I hit a dribbler into the water. I finally cranked it most of the way up the hole but by then I was hitting 5 with half a hole to go still. I really should have just hit driver, but it is technically unnecessary so I thought I was being smart and conservative.
11: Too tight for driver, it would end up back on 10. Played a 3h from the teebox but mishit it out to about 50y. Got a good 5h strike on the ball from the rough but it was a no doubter pull OB after traveling about 170y.
Glengarry 9-10-11 are a mind **** for me, not sure why. They are unremarkable but for some reason I am always scrambling on them.
I feel very good about my game. If I were going to blame that 62 on anything it would be fatigue from the two days of heavy yard work I did on Friday and Saturday before then round. Just ran out of steam.
I really want to get out to Totteridge again soon. A course I am familar with but haven't cracked yet. I think that would tell me a lot about my game.

First time? Let me know what you think. It's on my short list of clubs to join next spring.

I have decided that since I am going to keep my old irons set as a backup/spare set I should just get them extended and regripped. Good insurance against club lead times for next year, too. In hindsight, I should have done this from the start. But I didn't think I would improve this much this quickly.
That said grips are out of stock all over the place. I am surprised we can even get balls and tees at this point.

Dicks looked like they had grips when I went to buy a new glove yesterday.

I worded that imprecisely.
Jumbo/Oversize are more scarce. Dicks has nothing "within 100 miles" in the ones I am after.
But Amazon has one of them. Was just hoping to not have to wait for shipping to give my pro shop an extra few days to get it done because I have three tournaments Oct 2-4.

shot an 85 today. Tied for my best round ever but I know I left at least 6 strokes out there. Annoying when I know I can get sub 80s but just am still too slightly inconsistent
for those who can shoot sub 80, what got you to that next level?

It sounds dumb to say but to get there, just don't be dumb and stay consistent. It's as simple as hitting the fairway with the drive, then forgetting that and then hitting the green with your approach, then forgetting about that and 2-putting for your par and moving on. Don't think ahead, don't stare at your scorecard or keep it in your head (easy for me to say); just stay in that 'one shot at a time' mindset. If you break things down to their very basic structures and don't hit more than 2 wild shots that are miles off line, then you have a real chance. By going back and saying that you left 6 shots out there while shooting 85, you're right on the doorstep.shot an 85 today. Tied for my best round ever but I know I left at least 6 strokes out there. yeah. That’s something I actively try but it’s hard to concentrate. This is why I like meditation/yoga. Hopefully I can retain a routine and reset my mind on every shot
it’s funny because I played with my brother. We’ve been playing since 2003ish and we have fun with one another but my family has a legitimate competitiveness issue and when he shoots well he trie me to make it a competition vs he and I. I know in my head making golf into a competition is how I play poorly and get mad at the game. I am ok with the competition during a tournament or money round but with casual rounds I want to maintain zen
I ended up beating my brother by 10 strokes though (we were tied through 9)
