I had to deal with some temper and composure issues, something on that front clicked about a month ago. Now I just don’t get mad or go into a round with expectations. It’s helped as my last two rounds have been low 80’s

Speaking of temper, recently I saw this:I had to deal with some temper and composure issues, something on that front clicked about a month ago. Now I just don’t get mad or go into a round with expectations. It’s helped as my last two rounds have been low 80’s
JC:
To the c&^t!! You ox! {which would be an equivalent of "F-it! You a-hole!}
The announcer (in the most golf-like voice possible):
[long silence] this...clearly could not be, eeehm, fully appreciated by anglophone...anglophone golf experts...but...huh...in this moment Jessica Korda did not deny her Czech roots, even though, huh-huh, this was rather rough

My dad has always said something along the lines of 'golf is a game of advancement, so there is no use in looking back'. I have no clue whether that's an actual 'quote' or not, just something he's always imparted on me. When i was like 9, that meant 'Ball goes forward = good'...36 years later it means something completely different. Can't change how you got here, you can only control where you're going. That has helped me sort of chill out during a round. Every address of the ball is your first of the day.I had to deal with some temper and composure issues, something on that front clicked about a month ago. Doesn't hurt using that off the course at times as well.

Depends.to me, golf is fun regardless of how I play. I just like spending time on courses
I love a quiet morning round. I grew up playing junior golf every weekday morning in the summer, Mom would drop me off at 8 and come get me at lunch. Played a lot as a single through college blowing off classes and loved it.
When I'm out with my wife, it's again a chance to slow down and relax (90%) of the time. I probably put more of an emphasis on my performance though than I used to (maybe because I used to be a single digit cap and now I'm more like a 20).
And now the kids have started coming along and playing. And its the most frustrating and rewarding thing ever. The swings from them being upset at not hitting the ball to connecting on one and then my focus on trying to maintain some resemblance of ready golf and pace of play versus letting them work stuff out. It can be maddening.

Yeah, I am looking at it more hole to hole than shot to shot though. My goal by the end of this season is to break 80 on a decently long course (so like not rolling green or moon). To get that, you have to post par or better over 10 times and 1 or fewer doubles. My dad has always said something along the lines of 'golf is a game of advancement, so there is no use in looking back'. So, as opposed to thinking about my total score, I am just thinking about the total number of holes that I’m getting par to see if I’m getting in that range where I can really look to break that number.

This is a really big struggle for me. I have temper/composure issues in general, which a therapist has helped with, but maybe I should start talking to him about controlling that during golf? The inability to repeat results consistently is extremely aggravating.I had to deal with some temper and composure issues, something on that front clicked about a month ago. Rickie shot a 73 today after shooting 64 yesterday. Enigma.

Went to the indoor range at lunch to re-benchmark my clubs. I haven't made dramatic distance or club speed gains, but my dispersion is really tightening up.
I came up with a metric I find useful. How much my average distance for a club makes up the longest hit I have made with that same club. So, Average divided my Max.
Right now, my 20h is my max long club at 236yds, but only has an average distance of 163yds. So 69% of optimal.
My 4w max long is 234yds, and has an average distance of 204yds for 87%.
So, off a tee at least, that should inform my decision on club selection. It's interesting to me. My hope is as I improve all the clubs find their level above 80% and I won't need the metric anymore.
As an aside, I am swapping my 20h out for much newer 19h that should gap nicely with the rest of the clubs I want to buy this fall. Being newer (G400 instead of G20) I hope it is more forgiving so I can perform higher than that 69%.

Holes in one.
(Right? @Shyster?)
Yep. "Hole" is the noun, so that's the word that's made plural.

So the current leader of the lpga tournament is Jeongeun Lee6. I was like, “what’s up with the 6???” Apparently there were already 5 players her name on tour, so she just added the 6. Interesting. Better reasoning than Ocho Cinco.

The range by my new place has Top Tracer so I tried it out. Pretty neat. Downloaded the app so I could keep track of stuff.
Found out I can skull my 56° about 180, so I guess I have that going for me, which is nice.

Congrats to Troy Loney on what looks like a specacular round carded today.
I shot a personal best 105, myself. Prior was a 112. But I haven't show below 120 since starting lessons.
Started with a 9 and 8, still fighting those opening jitters. Fell into a string of 5s and 4s for most of the round. Couldn't buy a par to save my life, though. I knew I was sniffing around getting a 99 but just couldn't put the dagger in. Then finished out with a 9. Sad.
Maybe tomorrow. Playing Manor Valley for the first time, hoping the weather holds off long enough to get the round in.

78, bunch of pars, no birdies no doubles. It was funny cause it didn’t feel like I was doing anything well. But in retrospect, I was dialed in at the tee box and the approach shots all day and got up and down twice. 11 girs, which is definitely abnormal, so I feel like the score could be an outlier. Got lucky on 2 par threes where the shot bounced from off the green to on, amazing how a bounce can save a stroke like that. I only really made one putt, but it was just a par putt after missing a birdie way long.Congrats to Troy Loney on what looks like a specacular round carded today.
Also threw away a couple of strokes on the par fives by hitting hybrid when I should have just laid up to 100 yards out, because everything PW and under was on point

107 at Manor Valley. Not a bad little course, didn't feel as short as I thought it would be. I never really threatened 99 all day, but didn't have any big blowups either. Pars were rare.
I have never been hit into as many times on one round as this morning. Didn't bother me much but they came within 15 feet, one shot within three feet, several times. And we weren't playing slow, as a twosome pinned between two foursomes.

That's why I won't play Rolling Fields in Murrysville ever again.
