Also played hickory heights for the first time recently. Didn't come close to hitting any houses, but i can see where they are in play. I hated the par 3's, it was really enjoying myself until those two par 3's on the front.
Last time I played HH I yanked a drive so far left that I hit a house that wasn’t even on the course. The Par 3s on the front 9 were designed by an dadhole.
On five, my shot landed maybe 2 feet right of the green and kicked down the hill. I refused to accept it was a lost ball and went to the woods to look. Came back with probably 10 balls, none of them mine, then proceeded to lose everyone of those balls the rest of the day.

If anyone wants to play a round in the next few weekends I'm pretty free. Playing 9s are fun but I need to get some full rounds in to see where things really are with my game. Send me a PM if you have any ideas; I'm happy to try somewhere new that's closer to the city or wherever.

Most of my golfing friends have kids and they're too hard to schedule with. One of them penciled me in for a date in August we might get to play if his wife allows. Penciled in for a future maybe. Feels good.
I'm supposedly allowed to swing irons again in mid to late August, so I may see how things go before offering an invite.

Is that any different than any other scramble?

There's always one team that claims it.

More a comment on the course. I just played it for the first time and drove two par 4 greens, and there were I think two other ones that were drivable that I didn’t get on

I think it would be fun to see how low your team can get

I do... none that golf in State College. Most live in Bedford or Altoona and golf there. An hour drive there and back plus 4 hours for 18 holes... that's a lot of time. Maybe I'll just join a league next summer.

I have family-in-law in State College. Next time I get dragged up there I'll arrange a round so I can hang out with you instead of them.

I figured that's where you were going with it.

Yeah, that's place is a little short. I've driven #1 and #4 and have almost greened 8, 9, and 18.

Now that you mention it, I'm also kinda curious how low the scores would get. I don't know if I'll be ready to swing clubs by then, so I might not even be in. I'll have a better idea in the next week or so.

I get that the stakes are there for a reason, but that seems unnecessarily pedantic

If we want to get hyper pedantic I think they got the procedure wrong and maybe even the result.

If any part of the ball can touch the line, and the line is meant to be representative of the stake, then the string should have been wrapped around the out-of-bounds side of the stakes. Given how thick they are that would have certainly shown his ball to be inbounds.

@count2infinity, I am sneaking out a little later to play Tanglewood Manor for the first time--pretty sure the only time I've ever played it was with you.

I couldn't recall what the name of the course was... if memory serves it was a pretty short course. Felt like I was hitting driver then chipping, driver then chipping. Which isn't a terrible thing ;)

Lol if I get a lesson my game immediately regresses a bit and then I'll practice on what we worked on and slowly get a little better than I was before the lesson.

I had a nice round going tonight. +2 through 10. Then I doubled 4 of my last 8. Fun

I have the opposite problem. Played 9 yesterday. Carded a 10 on each of the first two holes. Then par'd a 3 and settled down the rest of the way. I think I'm a person that really responds well to a short range session before tee'ing off. I started that round cold and it showed.

I think tonight's lesson was really good. Up to this point we had only been doing upper body work. Tonight we worked my hips into it and it feels so much better, very liberating. Prior to today, I was trying to involve my lower body as little as possible, to the point that I was basically standing in cement. Now it feels like a real golf swing.
