The strep lab results are back, and it was positive for non-group A strep, which is a first. So at least she can now get off the meds.

15 year old asked me last night, out of the blue, "Hey Dad, want to throw?"

Yep! Sure do. Played catch and talked until the sunset, just like old times.

You don't get asked much to participate in your teenagers lives like that too often, need to take advantage of that while I can.

Lice update:

Wife and I never got them. Kiddo is free and clear. No signs of new ones.

The salt spray worked in just one shot. We combed threw with the pick everyday for 3 or 4 days after and that was that. She has her rescheduled dinner and movie night tonight. She’s stoked.

People are pissed that ours is holding fast to not doing this.

I mean, really? People pull their kid out of school to go to **** Disney in the middle of the year. Say it is an educational trip and write an excuse.

I first thought schools were doing it because it was right at dismissal time and they wanted kids to be able to experience it. But most are saying it’s for safety concerns… safety from what?

Darkness. It's going to be like the middle of the night for an extended period of time. Per https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nat ... 065430007/, much of Western PA will see a partial eclipse for about 2 and 1/2 hours. 98.3% of the sun will be obscured by the moon at the peak in Pittsburgh and it that percentage increases as you travel northwest.

If a ~8 year old tells your 5 year old they want to "suck your blood" on the bus would you reach out to the school and let them know? I don't want to make a big deal out of words but also feel like it should be documented.

I find myself coaching machine pitch this season. I hope this is far as I go in my coaching profession because the thought of doing minor/little league where parents think scouts are watching is not appealing.

There's a 4 year old who happy Gilmore step/runs from the batters box onto home plate every time I pitch him the ball and he then yelled at me for hitting him with the ball.

We were just notified that they're actually keeping the kids an extra 25 minutes on that day, and that they are bringing all of the kids outside to experience it, with everyone having special eclipse glasses, lol.

I couldn't imagine telling 25 5/6 year olds to not look at it without glasses.

We had that conversation with our 11 year old this morning, just to make sure that she was aware of the dangers.

Does anyone have any concrete plans for a viewing location? My plan is pretty much to drive up 79, get off maybe somewhere around Edinboro or so, and head out into the country to find a road where I can just pull over.

My momma told me not to get in white cargo vans being driven by strange men.

It’s pretty much 85.6% guaranteed to be cloudy that day.
