Got alerts today that our high school was on lock down after two fights involving multiple students at separate times, with one kid requiring medical attention. I saw something about the kid being stabbed, as they found a pocket knife on one kid, but I guess we'll find out soon enough. **** like this needs to stop.

Just got another update from the SD confirming that nobody was stabbed. One kid still required medical attention, which is bad enough. So this is just more proof that social media is a pariah, as those stabbing rumors spread real quick locally.

Just stay off social media. These same fights/rumors happened at my high school. Not all the time, but there were stories of how some kid had his face smashed through the trophy case or pummeled into the pavement several times. They never turned out true but rumors and embellishment will always be a thing.

My mother in law came to visit for the first time in a loooong time. We didn’t make it out for Christmas because we all got sick.

Christmas, Easter, and kid’s birthday all passed in that time, so she brought allllllll the presents. Kid was stoked, me and my wife who recently did a spring clean out/purge weren’t so thrilled.

We had ours a few months ago, and my daughter really liked it.

My mother in law does this same ****. I think she thinks she's proving a point by showering with gifts that she's been hoarding...

My oldest graduates in June, and he is going with a friend on a senior walk through the friend's elementary school and middle school. My son, of course, went to other schools outside of this district. But he gets out of a couple of days of school, so why not. Anyway, he's going to go up to some random elementary school teacher and thank them for believing in him and some other bullshit to get a reaction.

Had an interesting conversation with my kiddo yesterday when she saw a kid get spanked. I guess that's not something she's ever seen before. The look of confusion on her face was something else...

"Dad... Why did the mom hit that kid?"

So I explained how some parents use that to teach their kid a lesson when they're being bad, and how my mom and my wife's mom used to do it to us as kids and we didn't like it so we don't do it to her.

"Is she going to apologize? When you hit someone, even on accident, you have to apologize."

"No, I don't think she'll apologize because she doesn't think she did anything wrong."

"She did do something wrong. Hitting is wrong. You keep your hands to yourself."

We've never really needed any form of punishment for her beyond time outs. Even the hint of her being in trouble is enough to cause her to break down crying and apologize.

She has the right idea :thumb: I honestly can't remember the last time I saw a kid getting spanked in public.

Somebody in my kid's class has been sick all week, coughing up a storm... so of course my daughter catches whatever it is, and now looks and feels like ****. This year has been the worst year for her in terms of absences, because I think we're up to something like 6 or 7 sick days.

Soccer game this morning an hour away. It’s been raining all night, so the fields are soaked, and will be raining all day. Game is apparently still on.

I’m good with playing in the rain, but with a muddy field after a night of rain? Hard pass. I still don’t understand why a team this far away is in our league in the first place. They’re tied for first place with us, though our goal differential is better. I hope we crush their season now.

I don’t know the situation but In western PA anyway sometimes they will bracket teams from different districts due to not having a competitive home district bracket for them.

I was commissioner once for a bracket where a bunch of teams from Beaver and Butler counties were with a team from Erie and everybody complained. Hey I didn’t bracket the teams and I do this for free so kindly STFU.

It happens every season, where inevitably there is one team that’s an hour away from us. Every other team is within 15 minutes.

That’s wild. Every season is the same for us, most teams nearby and one out where they filmed Children of the Corn.

3-0 loss today, which probably cost us the title since this team was tied for first with us. Just a wet, cold, miserable day.

My son turns 18 today. So right at midnight this morning, my wife started getting all kinds of emails from various health services we've used over the years stating that she only has billing access or reduced access because he's now an adult. Yikes. I mean, obviously, but the suddenness was a little overwhelming for a Monday morning pre-coffee.

She is going to struggle with this, especially with the school stuff. She's been on top of his grades and classes since the first day of 1st grade. Some of that is being a teacher and seeing parents who are indifferent to their kid's school progression, but most of it is her personality type.

I'll get him registered to vote later today and he is most excited about finally changing the Playstation name he's had since I created it Christmas Eve 2014 when we got the PS4. Priorities, I guess.
