Come make dinner at my house. My toddler and I will appreciate your food. My wife maybe not so much, but I can smooth that over.

I was curious as well... apparently in the ancient days peeing on stuff and trying to see if there was any difference was quite common for a lot of medical conditions. You wonder how they figured that one out.Yeah... many of the wives tales are 50:50 at best. The Egyptian pregnancy test was actually statistically significant.

My 3.5 yr old is hit or miss. Tonight we're eating chicken salads... he will eat some grilled chicken and some of the components of the salad (i.e. not lettuce). Other nights he won't touch the main and just picks at the sides. How we proceed depends how much we feel like fighting and/or negotiating. If we don't, he usually gets a fruit/veggie or a PBJ or a yogurt or some nuts/cheese. Very rarely start with the BS "kid food" though. And never just accept that he won't eat and give chicken nugs or Mac n chee.

I will come be your son for a week or two if you need me.My teenagers dodint and moan about any homecooked meal. If it ain't pizza or fast food, then it sucks. It's tiresome and has only gotten worse during the pandemic. We're very limited in dining out options, as most are not healthy or are poorly run (or both). We build in 2-3 dining out nights, to give me a break from cooking, and my kids say that's the best thing I cook. (My wife and various dinner guests say I cook just fine).
Like last night, we originally planned to go out to eat. But, most local places are closed this week for summer vacation. So I moved up "Breakfast for Dinner" - pancakes (with either chocolate chips or homegrown blueberries), cheese grits, fresh fruit, and bacon - instead of eating shite Wendy's or whatever. You would have thought I was feeding them dog food. So we took away the 15 year old's driving practice, and that changed his attitude a bit.

Oh and Mrs Mac has had straight nausea for a week. Like I get it and I'm not saying a word to her but she's always been kind of a softie when it comes to sulking and stuff but it's even worse with a toddler.
Please note I am VENTING to you guys so i can support her and pick up the slack. So easy on the flame.

I would imagine that with no books, TV, or internet, they had more free time to fill.

My sister-in-law - a virulent anti-vaxxer back when her kids were young, over fears of autism - just had her second of three children diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. 2 out of 3. It's not the vaccines, folks.

Everyone knows this... except antivaxxers. They're the only ones that just don't get it.Source of the post It's not the vaccines, folks.
It's interesting though. How terrible of a person do you have to be to look at preventable disease and suffering vs. maybe somewhere on the spectrum and go, "OH MY GOD! I'm not having an autistic child! Here... have some measles."

So my kid starts his Freshman year at PSU this fall. To get your classes scheduled you have to do your online (due to COVID) orientation and meet with your advisor first. We encouraged him to do this early, as in two months ago. We of course were full of crap and had no idea what we were talking about so he put the orientation off to last week and met with his advisor today.
Congrats on your Monday schedule that starts at 8 AM and ends at 9 PM, kid.
To be fair it does get his bad day out of the way early and he has like one class on Thursday, at 4 PM. Dat Monday doe.....

Hopefully it's something simple like Econ1.
I had calculus at 8am my freshman year.
I'd venture a guess even if he did schedule on time he'd still have the 8am.
Its like a rite of passage.

Our 22 month old suffered his first sting tonight. At least we know he isn't allergic. The fcking bastard got stuck in his ring finger and we had to shake/swat it off. It was killed, so vengeance was ours.
He screamed/cried for a surprisingly short amount of time. Although he kept looking down at his finger and making loud, pissed off toddler curses for a lot longer He's learning early and forging his hatred.

A membership to any of the Carnegie museums gets you into all four of them (Natural History, Art, Science Center/SportsWorks, and Warhol). I just discovered this last week. Our first trip to the Science Center would have been over $50 anyway, so the $150 membership will be well worth it.
As an aside, there was a dirtbag at the Science Center yesterday that was drinking Miller Light from a glass bottle in the play area on the top floor. At least he put his empty in his stroller instead of on the ground.

This is undoubtedly alcoholic behavior.Drinking at a museum in the play area. Not a great look.

I don't know who would even think that's a logical idea to begin with. As a parent, there are times when drinking is acceptable around kids. At the freaking children's museum, is not one of them.

For what it's worth I was only asking because I didn't know if they actually sold beer at the science center or he snuck it in.

I would expect a parent with a kid young enough to be in a stroller to be chugging whiskey straight from the bottle.

Hard to believe, but the Girl Scout trip with my daughter is coming up in a few days. We are driving up to Camp Archibald Monday and staying there until Wednesday for their Splash Spectacular. Weather will be beautiful, although only in the mid to upper 70s. Will be great Smores/campfire song weather. It's 30 miles north of Scranton in the middle of nowhere Susquehanna County.
I am already assuming I will be one of the only dads there, but who knows. The fact that this is during the work week tells me that it caters more to stay at home moms that want to take their kids away for a couple of days. In any event, really looking forward to it.
