Well saidOhtani "stole home" on a 1st and 3rd situation and went on the throw to second. I have a beef with this play (not Ohtani specifically but whenever this happens) being a) ruled a stolen base and b) people acting like they legitimately stole home when this happens. He advanced on a throw. Same when there's a play at the plate and you take 2nd because they threw home. You didn't hit a double or steal second. Dumb. End rant

I go the other way on that. If you advance a base on a non-ball in play you should get a steal (unless it's an error)

AL Wild Card race is tight. Part of me is hoping the Sox and Yanks make it for a crazy wild card one game playoff and part of me wants the Sox to make it and the Yankees to go **** themselves

Anything that keeps the Yankees out of any postseason action will be ok with me.

Here's a fun one...
The Indians were no-hit for the 3rd time this season. The Indians starting pitcher in all 3 games was Zach Plesac. He's the 2nd pitcher all-time to be a starter in a game where his team gets no-hit 3 times in a career. He just decided to get it out of the way all in one year.

The amount of IBB he drew was stupid. How many times did he get walked with the bases loaded - on purpose? Thus the insane OBP

Are the giant protective oven mitts that baserunners put on once they get on base a relatively recent phenomenon, or have they been around for awhile?

Probably within the last ten years. I remember Marte and JHay wearing them and being one of the first ones I sawAre the giant protective oven mitts that baserunners put on once they get on base a relatively recent phenomenon, or have they been around for awhile?

I'm gonna throw some shade at the umpire for this one. You can cheat and watch the initial flight of the ball and then pick up the banger at the bag. It's a pretty natural transition that a pro should be able to pull off.

Interesting play. DBacks wanted to appeal the guy leaving third early on the prior play, so they step off and throw over. Tucker takes off and since the DBacks make a play on him, it's a live ball. He's out, but the run from the prior play counts.

so if Tucker took off and scored but the Dbacks just appealed and didn't bother getting him out, what would happen? the run would count or they'd be like "get back here" and not count the run?

Right. He'd be out if they won the appeal it seems. But since they made a play on him it took away the chance to appeal. So why do you have to throw to the base to make the appeal. Why can't you appeal after calling time and stepping off or something.
