Ohtani pitched and hit leadoff tonight. 0-4 with 3 Ks so far and 4IP 4ER. What a bum. Os snapping like an 18 game skid because if him
I had a weird feeling this was going to happen.

Meanwhile in the Dodgers Padres game...
Pollock's homer sends Dodgers to 5-3 win over Padres in 16

— After 16 innings that took 5 hours, 49 minutes to play, featuring 489 pitches by 19 pitchers who stranded a combined 35 baserunners, the streaking Los Angeles Dodgers finally got to celebrate.
I stayed up to watch this game and all I can say is the baserunning in extras was a debacle. Three times there were guys thrown out at the plate on balls back to the mound. The Padres also painted themselves into a corner with their lineup that the pitcher spot came up after Cronenworth and the Dodgers walked him 3 times in extras to face the pitcher (Musgrove even pinch hit) who struck out to end the inning.

I figured someone dying on this challenge was inevitable.

My condolences to her poor parents. I know we all like to think we are raising our kids right, and that certainly mitigates the risk of bad outcomes, but this could happen to any one of us with little ones. This stuff hits differently.

Edit: lol, just got it. Well, my point stands

Haven’t followed baseball in a while.

.323 is really the top batting average? Is this just completely a sport for pitchers now?

Strikeouts and home runs. It's a boring product.

I would guess the explanation is that the video doesn't show his knee *not* hitting the bag. I mean, common sense tells you it didn't, but not sure the video does. He was definitely safe though.

Take that back. Just watched it again. Knee didn't matter, as Marte was already back at that time. Should've been a quick replay.

Ironically, Marte got to third by stealing third, and was clearly out, but guess the Yankees didn't or couldn't challenge it.

Bob Uecker is right up there with Yogi as the funniest/wittiest guy in the history of baseball. I was watching clips of Norm MacDonald tell stories about him, so wanted to find something recent. The general he interviews here is funny too.

Ohtani "stole home" on a 1st and 3rd situation and went on the throw to second. I have a beef with this play (not Ohtani specifically but whenever this happens) being a) ruled a stolen base and b) people acting like they legitimately stole home when this happens. He advanced on a throw. Same when there's a play at the plate and you take 2nd because they threw home. You didn't hit a double or steal second. Dumb. End rant

This is similar to the RBI Baseball move, where if you have a runner on third, you can advance all of your other runners as far as possible if you keep moving that guy off the bag.
