Idiot manager for the Twins, man. Won't have to worry about losing a 19th straight playoff game at this rate.

So if ya boy Madison baumgarner throws a 7 inning no hitter in a regulation game, is it a no hitter

Are you asking for the actual answer or the opinion of 5af? Because in reality it's a full game but not recognized as a no hitter

Which I think I agree with actually. There might be 100+ (?) no hitters lost after the 7th inning prior to 2020 that would have a legit gripe about it if it was an official no-no

yeah that's a no(-no) for me. If it's not 9 innings it doesn't count

So you effectively have different classes of games? Weird, dumb.

Yes and don't disagree.

different classes yes but this really only matters for rare anomalies like perfect games, no hitters, etc. Shut outs maybe too, not sure how strict we want to be

I can't imagine how this will affect anything beyond those

Multi-class isn't a hard concept for me as I come from a sports car racing mindset. But baseball is so prideful about its meticulous statistical nature. Simply saying these decisions made as concessions to low attention span fans don't count is rough. Maybe speed the pace of play and keep the 9 innings so there is some congruency here.

I mean I agree but I'm not the baseball commissioner

Trout was discussed in the Bucco thread, but figured I'd bring it over here. How about Mookie being in the same stratosphere?

If Harvey Haddix doesn't get credit for pitching 12 2/3rd perfect innings, then MadBum sure as **** doesn't get recognition for a Little League game.

lol I'm guessing "financial flexibility" is a shot at the Red Sox for trading Mookie

dammit

Who is Financial Flexibility? Some inside joke from a team I don't follow no doubt.

And the Red Sox decided they didn't need/afford Betts?

Seems like Betts wasn't going to accept an extension, and opposed to risking losing him for nothing, Boston traded him.

I assure you that Boston is not second-guessing that decision considering how well Verdugo turned out, getting out from the Price contract, and getting their best prospect (jeter downs).
