I'm pretty sure they did just vote to remove the "red" and I think they haven't used the indian mascot for a few years, not that that changes your point. "Red Raiders" is so generic sounding. It's waaay down the list from Redskins.Out of curiousity... why would there be that representation in those franchises? Like, I get the FSU Seminoles. It's specific and the tribe itself loves it. I understand the Redskins changing... It's a racial slur (or at least used to be). I guess both sides for the Indians, I don't really get. Why were people so upset over the name and who were they? My guess is because they had nothing better to do and silly white people respectively. In addition to that, who is upset with the decision to change it? Again, silly white people with nothing better to do.
The school system that my daughter will most likely go to (unless we move and I don't see that happening) has a mascot called the red raiders and it's an angry indian as a mascot. There's been discussion of changing it and the anger, mostly coming from people with Trump signs on their yard still, about the change is mind boggling to me. Are you really that wrapped up with the name that you're willing to go to school board meetings and rant about it? You identify that hard as a red raider? I mean the solution is pretty easy... drop the red or change the logo to pirate or both.
I guess my overarching point is: the people that are upset about the change... why?

Lolol the Phillies just had to put a position player in against the Braves and Riley promptly hit a 439 yard two run homer. So good.

Problem with the name is that there really aren’t any good shorthand names for guardians. Let’s go guards? Here we go guardies here we go?

Was Gonna post the same thing. Bro, if you throw an 85 mph hanger to that animal, it is long gone. He hits good pitches 400 feet.On one hand, GOAT. on the other hand, 85 right down the dick will have that end result some times

Obviously a tweet from a Pirates' affiliate. I'm sure most real MLB teams pay for housing.

Off the top of my head I don’t know of any organization that provides minor league players with housing. There was a whole ordeal last week about who the LAA barely feed their players. While housing would obviously be useful, the bigger need is to pay them more than $10k per year.
