which WR have they drafted well in the later rounds? This list kinda sucks outside of AB and Diontae if we're counting 3rd round. And if 3rd round is later - then they only drafted one WR "high" since 2018

The number of starting wideouts they’ve landed after the first round has been impressive. Sadly, it’s the only position they’ve been able to consistently draft well

Edit: This list doesn't include Claypool or Pickens either, which I contend to be Colbert guys given the help he provided.

I think they made it almost a what, a decade though, with guys like Sanders, AB, Bryant, Wallace, Wheaton, Cotchery.

I also change my stance during that time, because they HAD Ben and they HAD a top-flight line for the most part. The Steelers needs have changed dramatically, they needed a new QB, and they needed a line to protect any new QB coming in. They haven't done that, and they kinda/sorta ruined Ben's last two years (DeCastro suddenly retiring, aside).

If you have a young QB, or in this case a young QB, and a near bust older QB. You need an offensive line to protect them to give them more time.

Sure, the argument used last year was that "oh Najee and Pat are basically blockers too" but that didn't turn out very great.

TEs they survived with guys like Ebron, Mcdonald, James and it was basically adequate.

Hindsight is 2020, but I still contend they had two years to inject some 1/2 round picks into this line to put it in a better state now, and potentially passed on both Najee and Pat given the positional quality they needed to get by.

Claypool was drafted early and Pickens hasn't played a game yet so I thought the list was pretty good for this discussion on finding WRs later in the draft

Right, I was saying at this moment, there's another two "years" where top picks were drafted that could have been a lineman. Did they need Claypool? Maybe - but by that point they were already having line issues and the discussion was about "age" on the line if I remember correctly.

Pickens, who "looks" like the real deal, could have been a lineman. Did they need to add another "potential" star WR that early? Probably not, but I won't argue it otherwise.

If Claypool has the same type of output he had last year, then he's an average WR, which sucks - because of the pick used.

I remember that Fred Gibson pick pretty well. He seemed like a steal in the 4th round. Not quite...

Yes, it's going to be the same scenario, that we're already technically in.

The story is going to be about the snub but I'm more curious as to why the **** Ben is hanging out at practice already like Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused. Go away, Ben.

Ironically, it was the first time Ben attended a Wednesday practice in years. That was always his "day off" or whatever the injury report called it.

I read that as: Gee willikers, I really wish Benny would stick around and show me how to play ball.

Screw Ben. We have KFP now, don't need his drama anymore. It was forgivable when he was pulling wins out his arse, but now it's time to fade to black. Enjoy your retirement
