I have temp sensors all over the house so depending on the time of the day the A/C runs based off of that sensor. The main thermostat is near a TV so it reads warmer than it is pretty much all the time because of that.
Basically from 6am to like 10pm a/c runs off the living room sensor that is sitting on a table near our couch. During the night (10pm to 6am) it runs off the sensor in our master bedroom.
Looks like right now I have it set to 72 from 6am to Noon, 73 from noon to 10, and then 74 from 10pm to 6am . It's higher at night because in our master we sleep directly below a ceiling fan so it feels much cooler. Plus we have a whole house dehumidifier (plus a smaller one in the basement) so that helps keep the humidity down which makes it more comfortable.
In any event when we are out I monitor via the app, and if it's too hot or humid in the house I think things need cooled down I just adjust remotely and kick it on.

Are you an ecobee user? I'd just as soon remove the thermostat from your Comfort Setting if the heat is causing you issues. Even though we have the same temperature set permanently, each Comfort Zone has different sensors enabled.Source of the post I have temp sensors all over the house so depending on the time of the day the A/C runs based off of that sensor. Yeah the actual thermostat is never set to be used for heating/cooling. The remote sensors are what triggers everything. I wasn't clear in my explanation.70°

I'm surprised there's so many people sub-75. I feel like the energy cost of that would be a lot
I do 78 during the day and 70 at night with my ceiling fan on

I'm assuming this poll is for when you're home. Before full time WFH, our thermostat was set to like 76° when we were away.

I'd rather be comfortable and spend a bit more. The humidity makes **** unbearable during the summer here. Our central A/C is only like 8 years old and our house is pretty well insulated.. I don't think we hit over $140 last year for electricity during the summer months, maybe $150 at the most. Our house is about 1900sq ft.. so not super huge.
It all evens out though... summer time electricity bill is a bit higher, but the gas bill is next to nothing, winter time gas bill goes up and electricity bill drops.

We have had this discussion before, but the mindset of "I'M NOT GOING TO TURN THE AC ON UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF JULY" is so stupid. Unless you are truly on a shoestring budget, and even then, I guarantee you can make adjustments elsewhere. More people die from heat every year than any other weather phenomenon out there.
Being uncomfortable all summer and/or winter does not make you more of a man.

Do you deal with humidity too? The humidity here is what sucks. I get hot easily in general but with humidity high...crank up that ac.I'm not uncomfortable at 78 degrees. Maybe a little toasty but I'm not dying

I dunno 78 is not comfortable to me. I don't want to be toasty inside I want to be cool and comfortable.

I can't sleep unless I'm cool, which for me is below 73°. The colder the room, the better I sleep.

albeit, I admit that I can deal with heat better than I can deal with cold and that's why I moved from NY to NC. Obviously if it were up to me the weather would be 70-75 every day but I don't mind when it's a little hotter. I wear gym shorts and a tshirt in the comfort of my house year round
