Only 20 more minutes, but the feeling is it's LSU. Oh well. The fire Capel crew are melting down on Pantherlair now.

Super Panther soccer team up 3-0 at halftime for their round of 16 game.
It’s very impressive how good the team and program have become. Done an excellent job recruiting international talent while getting impactful local players, but Campuzano seemingly coming out of nowhere to play every minute between the sticks has been huge.

I don’t think Capel has done a great job, but given the complete and utter shitshow college basketball has become, I don’t really have expectations for the program or anyone leading the team.

This is hilarious. Someone made a fake Reid account on Twitter and said he was going to Pitt, so for a brief moment everyone was going nuts in a postive way. I think someone else made a same fake and said LSU.

Guys like that PittPoker are melting down and wanting to fire Capel either way.

I like it when 5 star players come to pitt. They usually don't. Given the circumstances with this recruitment and the general upheaval in CBB rosters, I don't really care if he comes here or not.

At most he'll be here 1 year if he does come, whether that means he goes to the NBA, or he transfers. Seems to be the way now.

On a seperate note, I keep seeing people say "give this kid time, it's an important decision!" The dude and his momma bear are the ones that announced a committment date, TWICE. If they didn't do that, I don't think anyone would care.

Some updates on Efton Reid as he still has not announced his commitment...

There's a poster at PL who is apparently pretty well-connected and has a pretty good track record when it comes to things going on with the program off the court. From what he said, Reid was set to commit on Friday, when Overtime Elite approached Reid and his family. Overtime Elite is an upstart developmental league that is looking to compete with the G-League and it's marketing itself as an alternative option to college hoops for high school graduates. It's headed up by Carmelo Anthony

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/over ... yers-100k/

The rumor is that Overtime swooped in with an offer that would essentially make Reid the face of that league. It was enough that it caused the family and Reid to evaluate things. For whatever it's worth, this poster is fairly confident that if Reid decides to go the conventional college route, it will be Pitt.

There was also some stuff posted about Reid that caused me to change my perspective on the kid and his family. It started with a video that was posted about his involvement with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and how it helped him and his family through an absolutely hellish tragedy. I was previously unaware of it but when Efton was about 7 or 8, he lost his 3-year old brother Christian to some of the worst possible circumstances - beaten to death by Reid's mother's then-boyfriend. Reid had to testify at the trial when he was just 8 years old. Reid credits his family and his journey through Big Brothers as helping him get through everything, and he still considers his Big Brother and his family an extension of his own family. Reid wears 15 as a tribute to his brother, as the date of his death was April 15.

He seems like a genuinely good kid, very much like Will Jeffress. His recruitment has been a circus, but I can understand him and his family wanting to do what's best for him. I still think if he winds up at Pitt he'll only be there a year, but I do hope that's where he lands.

Double whammy to Pitt hoops.

Justin Champagnie has signed with Life Sports Agency and will keep his name in the 2021 NBA Draft. Because LSA has NCAA-certified agents, he could have elected to return, but Champagnie and the agency confirmed that his college career is over.

Obviously happy for him and I certainly don't blame him, even though coming back another year probably would have elevated him into a definite first-round pick.

Gonna be a rough year.

So was this guy not considered an elite recruiter? This is his third year right, is the pipeline that bright? It feels more stagnant than when Stallings was there, but I guess losing almost every game under him is probably more news-worthy than middling team.

Easy to be an elite recruiter at an elite program.

He may still be an elite recruiter, but I think the problem is he keeps going after the caliber of guys he was able to land at Duke. Think he needs to step back a little.

His staff is also terrible.

This is 100% correct.
