Yaw yaw footbaw...

It's June, official visits are allowed again, and Pitt has reeled in four commitments. The two confirmed so far are:

RB Jordaan Bailey - 6'1", 190 lbs. from Tampa-Hillsborough HS in Florida. Three-star rated by Rivals. He has just one P5 offer (WVU), but had a series of pretty good G5 offers - Cincy, USF, Buffalo, Toledo, Colorado State. His highlight film is pretty impressive. Hillsborough plays against pretty decent competition, so this may be a good under-the-radar pickup for them.

DE Jimmy Scott - 6'3", 250 lb. DE/DT from St. Francis HS in Athol Springs, NY. 3-star player initially committed to Tennessee, but decommitted after Pruitt was let go. Offers from Tennessee, Texas A&M, Minnesota, Arizona State, WVU, Maryland, Ole Miss, Nebraska, NC State, Michigan State, Illinois, among others. He played a couple of years at St. Joseph Prep in NJ, where he was also a RB. Fun fact re: Scott...I think my alma mater (Cathedral Prep) plays St. Francis on Sept. 24.

Not sure who the other commitments are. PL is saying that it may take a day or three to get announcements on those.

If you want to feel old, one of Pitt's top recruiting targets is TE Mason Taylor, son of former Woodland Hills Wolverine/Akron Zip/Miami Dolphin Jason Taylor.

For those who can't see the tweets, Narduzzi tweeted last night teasing an all-white uniform, presumably being unveiled on July 4.

Tyreese Fearbry - one of Pitt's top local and national targets - also tweeted out pictures of him possibly in said uniform, or most of it depending on whether there's a white helmet. Judging by reactions of other players to his and Narduzzi's tweets, I'll paraphrase the old Fred Willard ESPN hockey commercials and say, "The players? They're excited, too."

I'm 45 years old so whatever I think of their uniforms doesn't really matter, but I love the blue-and-gold base scheme and I'm on board with anything that doesn't really stray far from that. I like the Steel Panther helmet but I'm not crazy about the jerseys, mostly because I don't care for this trend of "dark gray jersey with lighter gray numbers" but whatever. That said, an all-white uniform would be particularly sharp, especially if it's accented in the blue and gold. I love the idea of a white matte helmet with the blue and gold script Pitt.

OK, I must have misinterpreted Narduzzi's tweet about July 4. I thought that was in reference to the uniforms.

Fearbry committing in a couple of weeks would cap off a pretty solid run for Pitt over this past month. It sounds like he's visiting UPS this weekend and it may come down to those two. He seems like another player that would help reign in some other top-level local talent that's coming up in the 2023 and 2024 classes.

This past weekend, they also added WR Addison Copeland and DB Ryland Gandy.

Copeland is a 3-star player, 6'3", about 190, from Buffalo. He recently decommitted from Rutgers (a real pity when something like this happens to Schiano). He had picked up offers from ND, UPS, BC and Pitt, but committed to Pitt after attending the prospect camp this past weekend working with new WR coach Brennan Marion. He also had offers from Indiana, South Carolina, and BYU.

Gandy is a 3-star CB from Buford, GA. Pretty impressive offer sheet - ND, UPS, WVU, USC, VT, UNC, Indiana, Virginia, Michigan State, Kentucky, etc. He's about 6'0", 170. Gandy gives them six commitments from Georgia since 2020. They had Rashad Battle, Jaylon Barden, and Hunter Sellers in 2020, and then Khalil Anderson and Preston Lavant in 2021. Battle & Barden already look like they're capable of being difference-makers. I love seeing them establish a presence in that state.

Big day for Capel.

2022 shooting guard Judah Mintz has committed to Pitt. He's a Rivals Top150 (103rd in the country), 4-star rated. Plays for Oak Hill. Had offers from LSU, Florida, Georgetown, George Mason, Maryland, UPS, VT, Wake, Seton Hall, Marquette, etc. Was reportedly down to Pitt, UPS, and Georgetown.

There's some discussion that 1) Capel knew he was getting Mintz and this may have been part of Pitt's decision to cancel Hood-Schifino's visit, and 2) Mintz is supposedly close with 2022 4-star center Shawn Phillips, who Pitt is also recruiting.

Seems like every year at the ACC media day nard dog likes to issue hot takes. This year was no different as he whined about transfers and said that the NIL rules are poorly thought out. Nard dog isn't known for his critical thinking but I do agree with him on both items. As a habit I try not to agree with pretty much anything Narduzzi does. But NCAA transfer rules and NILs are a pretty good example of the state of the world in 2021. The previous way sucked, but I'm not convinced this is any better. Oh well.

Pat Signal today, and it's a pretty good one.

6-8", 331 lb. 4-star OT Ryan Baer commits to the Super Panthers. This is Pitt's first official Rivals 4-star in this class (though they do have a few "high 3-star" Rivals kids with Jimmy Scott and Camden Brown).

P5 offer sheet included ND, Baylor, Duke, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, South Carolina, Tennessee, UVA, VA Tech, and WVU.

First camp practice tomorrow.
