Pitt basketball is dead.
This is 100% correct.

A "dumpster fire" at least has heat and light.
And it’s not something I lay solely at the feet of Capel. The sport is dead and in its current form Pitt would never have been a player. Even if Dixon somehow stuck around, his inability to figure out how to utilize future NBA players Steven Adams and Khem Birch remove him as a destination for high prized transfers. Pitt was likely always headed to this point. The Stallings hire just made it happen faster.

So was this guy not considered an elite recruiter? This is his third year right, is the pipeline that bright? It feels more stagnant than when Stallings was there, but I guess losing almost every game under him is probably more news-worthy than middling team.
I think he is a good recruiter. He is getting these top prospects to even consider Pitt that would probably just blow by and never give us a thought. Unfortunately we've been the bridesmaid instead of the bride.

Honestly, I think he needs to pivot and focus more on how Howland/Dixon won. Get these borderline 3/4 star guys and work and develop them.

The only difference is, back in the Howland/Dixon days, you didn't have 1,600 kids in a transfer portal because they didn't want to put in the work. It's going to be an uphill battle for schools like Pitt. But to say it is dead is a little dramatic IMO.

He may still be an elite recruiter, but I think the problem is he keeps going after the caliber of guys he was able to land at Duke. Think he needs to step back a little.

His staff is also terrible.
This. I do think he needs to make some staff changes.

And honestly, if Cham gets drafted, is that not a good thing?

the problem is that the borderline 3/4 star guys that have came to pitt and have been good

have left

or stolen a car on coltart street from someone they are acquainted with

What’s the issue with his brother? The internet “in the knows” have previously alluded to Jason being a negative influence but no one is ever spills the beans.

Yep. I agree with this wholeheartedly. The big powers and the perennial all-star mid-majors will get through this new world fine. It's the middle P5 crowd that's going to be hurt the most.

Every fanbase in the country except the blue bloods of blue bloods thinks the new transfer rules will screw them the most. Which makes me believe that it's an even playing field for everyone else. You may not like it, but Pitt has the same opportunity as the FSUs, Floridas, WVs, etc of the CBB world. They can be okay if they do things the right way.

I think it's naive tbh. I think the transfer portal thing has permanently altered the landscape of college sports. Maybe it's "necessary", but the era of three/four-year letterman going to the same school and graduating is over.

I know, I know "the coaches have a portal and can leave on a whim so why can't the players..."

It definitely has altered CBB. But I don't believe it negatively affected Pitt more than anyone else.

the transfer portal is just like the 3 pointer in nba basketball and 3 outcome at bats for MLB

Right for the sport, bad for the fan.

That worries me some. Need to get one past Washington. If the Huskies score first, they are extremely strong defensiviely.

H2P!!!

Is there some weird multi sub rule in college soccer that I’m not aware of?

Sounds like rec soccer rules. Any whistle except for direct kicks and corner kicks you could sub as much as you want.

You get like 10 or 11 subs in NCAA and the starters can re-enter once

That would totally be a Pitt thing to have happen, but is there any legit source (that's not Pgh sports now) reporting that?
