I scan as I go during grocery shopping, so my checkout experience is less than 60 seconds.

We do this too. Love passing all those suckers in line when I go to leave.I scan as I go during grocery shopping, so my checkout experience is less than 60 seconds.

My store also has an app for your phone that let’s you scan as you go using your phone’s camera, and you can pay via Apple Pay (or CC) in a special lane. That takes about 5 seconds to finish checkout, but they don’t accept physical coupons. That’s the only drawback. I did that during the early days of covid where the checkout lines were 10+ deep. Walk right up to this express checkout and be out of the store without even having to stop my cart.

Sam's club scan and go is a huge time saver ....literally in and out in under 15 minutes and never stand in line other than at the door for them to scan my mobile QR code.

Yeah, I love that feature at Sam’s. They have (real) contactless payment at the gas pumps, too.

Our local grocery store’s pumps just added contactless, which is great because now I don’t have to remember to grab my Chase card that has 5% rewards for gas before I go. Everything is in my Apple wallet.

I absolutely hate Sam’s gas pumps. It takes 10 seconds for the menu to update. Insert Sam’s card. Wait 10 seconds. Remove Sam’s card. Wait 10 seconds. Insert payment. Wait 10 seconds. Enter zip code. Wait 10 seconds. It is painful

Scan and go, eh? I'll have to check that out.

You're not the only one
In my head, I read 'litter' as 'cat box litter'. And so I was like "Who the hell is this person???? Just throwing cat litter around. Like with a shovel? Do they just grab a handful? What."

while I don't disagree, cash is part of the issue. plenty of people are still paying cash for their fast food purchases. I stopped using cash in March 2020.There should be a separate line at Chick-fil-A where the people who are stuck in the stone ages and don't use mobile ordering have to go.
They are still really efficient but put those old people in a separate line.

this saved my sanity early in the pandemic. I tweeted to Costco, why don't you offer scan and go? they responded with, "our guests spend a minimum amount of time in line". really? because I seem to remember HUGE lines at Costco 365 days ago......Sam's club scan and go is a huge time saver ....literally in and out in under 15 minutes and never stand in line other than at the door for them to scan my mobile QR code.

This is what I was mentioning the other day - my local grocery store's express lane that takes about 5 seconds to checkout (scan items with the app on your phone):
The store is also home to Marty:

I believe it’ll eventually be used for inventory control, which will be a nice upgrade.

That scan-your-goods-and-pay-by-mobile sounds cool, I wish my local stores did that.
......................................
.......Let me rephrase that. I should find out if my local stores offer that.

This store also does home delivery, but last I checked it was crazy expensive. I go on Friday afternoons, which tends to be less crowded. I think skull mentioned it, too, but I also like to pick out my own produce and fruit. I’d say that 25% of my shopping trip is me figuring out what I want while at the store.

people editing Wikipedia to make a “this person is that person’s dad/father” edit; specifically for athletes when one beats another one
It used to be funny but is tired now. Just saw one for Mickelson and Koepka

My older very anxious dog shitting all over the backseat of my car on the way to the groomers (I have a seatcover for the dogs in the back thankfully). Not only that then he decided to sit in it afterwards.
He **** 3 times before we left home....I didn't feed him this morning because of the anxiety. It's a 10 minute ride to the groomers. CMON MAN!
