Both Vandy pitches are overrated bottom of the rotation arms who will still reach free agency before this barren roster is in a window to compete again.

It’s a catch 22. They draft one of the pitchers and they’ll screw him up and it’ll be a “I told you so.” They don’t draft one and they become a perennial all star because other teams don’t suck and it’ll be a “I told you so”

The major league team is in the middle of an 8 game losing streak. They have some work to do if they want to pass the O’s and D-backs to get the first overall pick, but the inevitable Frazier trade should help the cause as he is one of the 3.5 grown ups in this lineup.

Anyways, i took around the minor league stats to see if there is anything worth mentioning. Lolo Sanchez is having a good year. He is a guy that is getting less attention this year due to the additions in the offseason, so it was nice to see him putting together good numbers in Greensboro. Priester has some really good starts and some really bad starts. That is a surprise because i cant think of any other pirate pitching prospects that are all or nothing depending on the start. In Curve, PA, Salt Bae is having a tough time.

It is probably time to start playing Cruz in the outfield. I dont care if he can glove it well enough in SS to stick there....outfield depth is so bad that he is actually more valuable to this organization as an OF than an SS, which is amazing.

I was listening to the game on Friday and block was saying that Newman is playing short extremely well, based on some new defensive metric. Good if true.

There has clearly been a directive from Pirates management to hype up Newman's defense. They have been spending a lot of time raving about his errorless streak and whatnot. The problem is that Newman clearly doesn't pass the eye test when it comes to be being a gr8 defender.

I really wanted this Newman factoid to not be true, but Fangraphs has him with the top defensive WAR among SS by a pretty wide margin. Unfortunately his offensive WAR is equally as bad, leaving him with a 0.1 WAR that ranks 22nd amongst SS.

He has a .497 OPS in 224 plate appearances yet has somehow only struck out 15 times. That is actually incredible.

Everyone seems to be forgetting his record setting spring training at the plate.

I just did the math, his OPS would be right around 600 even if you include spring training stats

Newman is so bad at the plate that his WAR is barely ahead of Mr. Vanessa Hudgens.

why isn't this guy an outfielder, too? do we really need to be extra sure that kaai tom (who might be the oldest rule 5 guy ever) cant hit? its time to make sure mr. vannessa Hudgens can't hit, either.
