Pirates murdered Drew Smyly so bad in that inning the Braves quit.

Musings after back to back blowouts at the hands of the rag-tag pirates squad
- I forgot about Edgar Santana, any bullpen arm is a luxury for this team
- This Bednar guy they got in the Musgrove deal could be interesting, an integral part of the BP rebuild, or a trade chip
- The BP basically needs to be rebuilt from scratch, RichRod is not a legitimate backend guy, so I hope the plan is for him to fool a team by notching some saves, and sell him as such being the ideal scenario
- Assuming Crowe and Yajure make the team, the rotation kind of becomes a mix and match beyond Brault, Keller and Kuhl. The former two will group with Brubaker and Anderson to fill out the final spots, and basically engage in a months long competition to be a MLB starting pitcher or a swing man in the bullpen.
- Polanco looking like a masher in ST is a good indication that his season is trending towards putting up amazing April numbers, getting hurt, and then looking a guy picked up off the street and inserted into a ML starting lineup in between Dl stints for the rest of the season
- Todd Frazier means less Moran, so that's a good thing
- Cole Tucker still can't hit, with Alford and Fowler now on the 25-man, I don't see him sticking around long unless they trade Gonzalez and A. Frazier

Blake Cederlind to the 60 day DL, with a UCL strain...of course. Probably TJ surgery next. Guy just throws too hard.
Cahill will take his spot on the 40 man.

Great. Thought he'd be a decent closer to flip in a couple months. Can't even do that

They need more starters, makes sense to bring in a guy like Cahill to eat innings. I don't think Anderson or Brubaker are guys you can really run out there every fifth day. I mean, obviously not if your trying to win, but that you don't destroy all your bullpen arms.

I saw a headline that said the Pirates may use a six man rotation. So that's interesting.

Edgar Santana today:
0.1 IP 5 hits 6 runs 6 earned runs 1 walk 1 hr
after 3 scoreless outings
good news is that frazier keeps hitting the living hell out of the ball

Pirates just owning the Twins this afternoon. Have nine hits in five innings, five scoreless for the pitchers.

Keller will be a turd until he's moved elsewhere. It's been a tradition since Charlie Morton.

I'm watching today's game against the Rays. Hayes is going to be fun to watch this summer.
