Here in FLA, we keep the temp on at 69-71 all year long. never turn off the AC setting unless the windows are open. turned on the furnace twice - once during the home inspection and a second time when we were getting the system replaced.

The home office is hot box so what is the point of turning the furnace up if it is warm in the only stupid room that matters

I just upped from 68 to 69.

My wife kept turning on the propane fireplace.

I feel like 69 is much warmer than 68.

How's that working? With electric supplemental my electric bill has been about $250/mo the last two months, which is up considerably. I don't mind but the wife is annoyed.

Nevermind, didn't see 'fireplace' and assumed you meant a propane supplemental system to a whole house heatpump.

I set my AC to 75 and then turn it completely off once I open the windows in the fall. I've been in my house almost 6 years and I think I can count on one hand the number of times in that era where I've turned on the heat.

Yeah, propane fireplace, heat pump, electric supplemental.

We hover right around $150 a month year round.

Brand new construction though with airtight insulation (R 21 / 38)

We use a nest. It fluctuates from 68-70 through the day depending on how we feel.
At night it goes down to 63 and stays there until 10 minutes before I get up when it pre warms the house before I get out from the covers.

Our electric bills are noticeably higher since the pandemic and work from home.

I'm still really pissed my heat pump handles all the logic by itself and doesn't tell the Ecobee when it's using Stage 1/2 and Aux heat. Might as well just light stuff on fire to keep warm, at least I'd have an idea what's going on.

That is about the most useful feature of having the ecobee, telling me that aux heat's been running for 4+ hours (usually when it's <20 outside)

It used to be 64 during the day and I think 58 at night. Like shaf, when I lost weight I lost some of my cold resistance, so it's now 67 during the day and 62 at night.

Summer is 77 during the day and 80 at night.

I just don't get how you get out of bed in the morning when it's 62...what's the motivation for getting out from underneath your covers to go into a likely colder bathroom...unquestionably, I'd lose more money in my production value as a person than I would on keeping my bedroom at a temperature fit for humans haha
