Speaking of the draft. I didn't even think of how good this draft was. Man

Man. Would have been nice to have that first round pick, amirite?

Omar Khan, the Steelers cap guru and assistant or associate GM, interviewed for the Texans GM position yesterday, fwiw.
He’s always interviewed and he never gets hired. Jets and Seahawks have both passed on him in recent years.

I know it's not exactly the same, but whenever I hear his name, this is my first thought:

A few more men like him and the Steelers offense may start functioning again.

The offense line greatly concerns me moving forward. Al is out of contract and over the hill, shouldn’t be re-signed but might be due to necessity. LG will probably be Dotson, with the hope that RG will be a healthy and recuperated DeCastro, who has been awful this year. Pouncey is washed up AF, but like DeCastro has one year left on his deal. Combined those two will count for almost $30MM against the cap next year. RT could be any of Feiler, Chuks, or Banner. I’d like to see them dump Al and get someone early in the draft who can step in at LT, but that might be a lot to ask for. 2022 they need to target a C for sure.

Regardless of any of that, the Steelers cap situation next year is terrifyingly bad and could lead to a lot of changes.

Get ready for a few obvious QB runs/option plays whenever Dobbs is in. The Browns will never see it coming. Again.

Put it up there with every time Ray Ray is on the field he's getting a sweep.

I'd cut one of Pouncey or DeCastro honestly due to cap. Pouncey would likely stay because of Ben and Ben saying don't do it. So DeCastro it is.

I’d rather telegraph an option/run with Dobbs as opposed to having Ray Ray out there.

Honest question: has Khan proven he knows anything about player personnel at all? Like I’m pretty sure he’s very limited in terms of drafting and player development. It just seems like he’s really good at playing with numbers. He’s basically Botterill-lite lite

And to add I’m not downplaying the importance of Khan to the Steelers. I think losing him would be really bad, especially with our cap status next year. I’m just not sure he has all the other attributes to be a GM

I completely agree with your assessment. He’s an admin guy and I’m not sure he has any say in personnel matters. When Colbert retires I don’t think he would get elevate to replace him.

I should have known part of the quote was left out.
"They’re still the same Browns team we play every year," Smith-Schuster said. "They’re nameless gray faces. The Browns are the Browns. They’re a good team. I’m just happy we’re playing them again this Sunday."

Even with that said... the Browns only need the first part to put up for bulletin board material. He still needs to choose his words more wisely. I mean the Browns are trash so whatever but just saying.
