Best/worst Interview Questions

Postby obhave » Wed Apr 22, 2015 2:22 pm

What are your favorite interview questions to ask? What are the worst you have encountered?

We were trading interview horror stories over lunch today, and curious what peoples most memorable questions were.

Mine was being asked what car part I think I am.

I have gotten this in each interview I've done. So annoying

That's easily the worst. "I want to hire you, tell my why I shouldn't..." Is actually what they're saying.

I don't like the trend that seems popular now, where they ask questions from personality tests. Like, "Would you say you do most things better than your friends?" There is no right or wrong answer, they are just using the responses to gauge what type of person (and employee) you might be. But they're stupid.

Walk in with a piece of paper in your pocket that you hand them in response that says "My over-preparedness can be irritating"

"What is your vision for the future of this company?"

I literally was asked that exact question one time interviewing for a head warehouse manager position of a small R&D firm in RIDC Park.

That's actually not a bad idea. Gauge the interview to that point and if you feel its right go for it.

the five years question thing is so dumb.

most interview questions are dumb. Everyone is lying or should be lying. People always ask, "are you a team player?" of course I'm going to say yes. I'm going to talk about how I love working on group projects, how I love team sports, etc. but of course in reality I much prefer working by myself in a shell.

The five years thing is annoying. I usually answer it by saying "You can't realistically say what you're going to be doing in five months, let alone five years. But here are a few things I hope I will have accomplished in that time here at Weyland Industries." Then prattle on about improving efficiency, demonstrating my worth to the company, making the workplace a more enjoyable environment for everyone. Blah blah blah.

I was asked the 5 years question. I told the interviewer I expected to be sitting in my bosses chair.

I was once in an interview where a middle-management type was trying to be all official and "M.B.A." and stuff and the owner of the company popped his head into the room and said, "Son, can you (talking to me) pass a drug test and show up on time?" and then after I answered in the affirmative to both the owner responded with, "Cut out the Bull **** and hire the guy."

Damn grammar.

Boss' chair.

And while it was a hand-me-down, it was also an upgrade.

The last time you kissed your wife, did you taste my
